gone a bit quiet on this thread recently! How is everyone doing on this fine and sunny afternoon?
It has gone a bit quiet lately!
Nothing much has changed since my last post, except that once I hit £4k in my ISA (another £68 ish), I'm going to concentrate on building up a fund of around £1k that I can get at easily for semi-regular expenses (like new glasses, new laptop, dental costs etc) so I don't have to dip into my savings for those kinds of expenses. There's just over £100 in that account at the moment so quite a way to go there! Then it'll be back to building up the proper savings again.
How are you going?ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0 -
Hey everyone Payday today!!! Added 1K to savings so going good. On the downside though a house we like has just been withdrawn from the market just as we are getting close to our deposit amount aswell. What does everyone think about dropping a note stating our interest through the letterbox? Guess we dont have anything to lose.Moved in 12/09 Mortgage 126K0

Hi,
Thought I would join this saving forum as I am quite disheartened but since reading a few posts I feel better!!
Can I off load a bit???:o
I am a 36 single mum who has lived with my mother since Nov 2007.
So far i have managed to save £21,000 and since june try and save 1k monthly.
Saving is the easy bit, living with my mum is painful I feel like a caged animal, dont get me wrong she is brill but I cant do anything and my 5yr old boy is quite boisterous and i am constantly shouting at him!!!
I have seen a house for £139,950 which is just the ticket and i can see myself and son there for years but I would be silly to get it as it is out of my price range I need about another £20k for it to be comfortable.
I kno I need to just stay where I am and save , save, save.
Sorry for all the above just really frustrated and wanted to chat:o0 -

Welcome to the thread!I'm living with my parents at the moment and it's starting to feel very claustrophic at the moment. Needless to say, I'm also desperate to move out but am nowhere near my targets so that won't be anytime soon!
Feel free to vent your frustrations here as lots of us will be in similar positions and can offer encouragement and motivationISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0 -

I thought I was the only 30+ living at home on here!!
As much as I love my parents - I so need my own space and I do tend to spend alot of time on my own in my room, catching up with things on TV that I record. I do get moaned at for this as my mum says I am living like a hermit and blah blah blah!!!
Welcome to the thread ihatebananas and good luck.
Dippykitty you and I are in the same boat, feeling you want to move but do not have the funds yet to do soWe will both get there eventually!!
