Hi all - I managed to get to the bank and the gym between bouts of bad weather. It's blowing like a good'un out there now and pouring with rain. I hope it stops before the afternoon school run. We've had no damage here, luckily, but I don't think everyone is as lucky.
CATZNINE - as long as you stick to the same ply of wool and the same needles, the squares will work out fine. If you do any cable stitches, though, they usually tighten the finished piece so you might have to add a few more stitches to get the right size.
SCUZZ - hope you feel better soon; you should take some time off if you're not well. You've been really busy lately.
LINDSEYANN - thank goodness your nephew is doing well. I bet he's absolutely gorgeous!
HILSTEP - (((Hugs))) to you - hope you feel better soon.
CHURCHMOUSE - Thinking of you on your Mum's anniversary.
PENPIN - (((Hugs))) to you.
CATOWEN - hoope you manage to piece together your fence.
Well, I still haven't started my knitting afternoon - my Mum phoned just before lunch, even though we had gassed for hours last night on the phone; I had sent her a copy of a knitting pattern and some ideas for things to make with her mountainous fabric stash. So, we gassed for another hour, then I had lunch, then I dozed off! Anyway, I'm going to have a cuppa then actually start my knitting. I have Dirty Dancing recorded or Officer and a Gentleman - don't know which one to watch. I've never seen Dirty Dancing so I think that will be the one.
Well, off to put the kettle on.
Hope no-one is suffering because of the weather.
See you later.

Hello again everyone,
Well, ive just had the lovely Blairweech here, and her chap - who came to look at my fence and see how they could help! Not much they can do today, due to the weather still being dreadful, but will either come back tomorrow or at the weekend and make it all safe for me.
So a huge THANK YOU BLAIRWEECH its amazing how this forum can help people, i really wasnt expecting any offers of help, and it really has made my day. And it was lovely to finally meet someone off here!! Will def have to arrange to meet up with any others from around this area (we both thought that would be a good idea!!)
Might be back later, but LO has just woken up, so im off to play with the cars now!!!
Have a lovely day - take care in this weather

Afternoon everyone.
Happy Birthday Racyred!!!!
Catowen thanks for asked about the footy match, i am very pleased to report we are now semi finalist!!! I have almost lost my voice after the amount of shouting i did yesterday, we won 2-1 our first goal was a forced own goal and the winning goal came from my ds3!!! I was so pleased for him his team mates went crazy!!!!!!
Tonight is dd parents evening, then im planing on a quite night in front of tv as i have a banging headache (i think due to over excitment yesterday!), i have been and done the weekly shop, and i have had to re-due my budget as my working tax credits have been dropped as they say i have been overpaid, not by loads thankfully but still means im now £30 a week down so thats added to my headache but think iv managed to rejiggle it ok and will be able to cope.
Hope everyone else is ok and i too am looking forward to thursdays meet.
Catch you all later

Catowen and Blairweech
What a lovely post. It is so good that we can all help each other. We had a hairy fence story a few years ago. Fence between us and neighbour blew down in a gale. I went to work and before I got a chance to pop in to see neighbour she had been on to lawyer to say the deeds had been checked and that we 'would have to pay half'! Well, there was never a question as we liked the privacy in the garden and I was going to suggest we paid half (she had originally had erected the fence and did not request payment.) We subsequently fenced rest of the garden (which involved 3 neighbours). We asked if they wanted to contribute - immediate neighbour on other side had biggest chunk (£130) and the two at the bottom of the garden were advised that half for their share was £25. One bottom neighbour said, why even ask, of course we will pay. The other said - is this good value for money and how many estimates have you had!!!!!!!!!! It was a guy doing a homer at considerably less than the going rate (and he works for a local fencing company). He did a splendid job.

Well done Blairweech!!! :T :A What a lovely thing to do.
GB... If you ever have a problem with a hairy fence again, Aussie has a cream for that that she swears by.0 -

Did you say hairy face?????????????????? She interfered in my post last night - what is she like!
Just phoned company that did venetian blinds 18 months ago when we got double glazing. I want a roller blind for the bathroom which was done over a year ago and I am now determined to put the finishing touches to it! Guy is coming tomorrow evening with samples and to measure up. Just need a mirror and then that is sorted! Hope the kitchen doesn't trundle on as long as the bathroom!

Afternoon folks,
It was lovely meeting CatOwen - I'm really sorry we couldn't fix your fence today - bloody weather! It will get done though
The weather here is still rough - found one of our neighbours trees blown down on the way out, and blocking the lane - he is very lucky that it did not topple over the other way as it would have crushed his caravan!! (we don't live on a caravan park or anything, he is just converting the barn and staying in a caravan). So OH helped our farmer move it out of the way with his tractor.
Not sure what I am doing for the rest of the day - am going to Plymouth later to pick up a freezer from Freecycle :j . Think I will crack on with tidying the bedroom in the meantime.
Dinner tonight is chilli and rice
Hope you all have a good day, and stay safe in the stormsWe must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

For once you've not been interefered with, GB :T HJ did say "hairy fence" which I believe is what you said you'd hadThough I do believe that HJ's advising of cream for your condition is against the rules of MSE
Maybe you should consult your GP?
