I NEED HELP!!!
I booked a hotel in Vienna and the quoted price was in pounds.
I paid by Master Card and I was not charged until now.
When I booked the hotel the quoted price was £174.00 - but because of the EURO I am now charged nearly £300!!!
What are my rights regarding paying as price seen or paying in local currency?
Can they say that the price hasnt changed (which is true it is still 350 EUR) but the price shown in £s has changed0 -

Blyme, how long ago did you book that??
Think you might have miscalculated when you booked it.
For EUR 350 to equal GBP 174, the exchange rate would have been 2.0115, and I can't ever recall it being up that high!!Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

Hi all
I am off to Portugal at the weekend :j and just wondered about getting currency.
I have a Nationwide debit card with my Flex account and a Post Office Card. My intention is to pay for the car hire / meals / shopping at the supermarket etc. on the PO card and then pay it off when the bill comes in. However what do I do about cash. I won't need a lot (maybe up to £100 for drinks, ice creams etc) but do I buy some before I go or withdraw it on my Nationwide card from an ATM?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.0 -
DJ MARKET TALK: EUR/GBP Buying Weighs On GBP/USD - Trader
1104 GMT (Dow Jones) EUR/GBP buying out of Europe is weighing on GBP/USD Tuesday, says a trader. EUR/GBP just printed the day's high of 0.8756 (low of 1.1421) up a penny on the day, while GBP/USD is struggling to stay above 1.48, that despite a good recovery in the euro and CHF against the greenback. GBP is getting hammered ahead of the release of the Bank of England inflation report, and the ILO unemployment rate and Average Earnings figures to be released at 9.30am today.
Markets are nervous, maybe expecting figures to be worse than estimated.
Cable currently 1.4425
GBP/EUR currently 1.1150Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

I was wondering why the pound was suddenly falling back again. Maybe this is the usual pessimism that occurs before such reports in times like this.0
