Cheers, will bookmark! Althought unfortunately, once Tesco add the delivery fee on, it's pointless ordering through them.

Hi I'm going to Zante at the beginning of July and want to change some money before I go. I've got a nationwide VISA account so can take money out over there with no charge. I've had a look on the VISA atm site to make sure there are atms where I'm staying but can't even find Zante on the list. Can anyone shed any light? Also I'm thinking of changing some money before I go with Thomas exchange, has anyone else used these. I'm a bit worried about changing such a large amount of money over the internet so if anyone has used them before I would appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks!

I didn't have a problem finding an ATM in Zante, but somedays it just didnt have money or wasn't working. This was 7 years ago though so things may of improved.

    Trading at 1.1736 currently..

Highest travel money available to us is Thomas Exchange Local at 1.1625.

Been waiting for a week to convert £2000 into Euros, going away early July - The way this rate is increasing, hoping I get around 1.25 by the time I go away. Only way I'm going to change up is if the rate goes down a point or two beforehand.

Do Thomas Exchange Local charge commission/delivery? I've noticed the delivery often makes it more worthwhile to just go down to the local post office and get the money there and then.

    10:06 15Jun09 Trade-weighted sterling hits 2009 high

LONDON, June 15 - Sterling rose to its highest level of the year against a basket of currencies on Monday, boosted by its gains against a broadly weaker euro.

Trade-weighted sterling <=GBP>, which tracks the pound's value against a basket of currencies, rose to 84.1, its highest since mid-November.

The rise followed sterling's climb to its highest level of the year against the euro <EURGBP=R>, which comprises most of the currency basket.

  • Hi

Could anyone tell me the best approach for the following?

We're off to Cyprus in August and when we arrive for our villa we have to pay off the remaining balance, which is approx. 1000 euros. Which of course means I am watching the exchange rate very carefully to see how much we will need to pay in sterling. since booking we've already saved £100!

Now with the exchange rates in mind, am I best getting money here before I go out?

    or

use a cash machine when I'm out there to draw the cash out?

    or

Use a debit/credit card to pay the balance off?

I have an Abbey Zero credit card (which i believe the best one to have).

I think the best option is using the card to pay it off, better exchange rate, interest will be added but still better value overall.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    PC
