I have been watching no1currency.com - comes quite high up the list using Martin's travel money maximiser too. My local branch is at the back of a 'Cash Converters' shop -looks like they have lots of branches- check on their website to see if there is one near you

    Thanks for that

Im looking at getting £700 so they would work out at 777€ and the closest behind that is M&S offering 772€ for £700 so for ease of ordering and picking them up i'll opt for M&S I think.

Just another query please, call me old fashioned but I was planning on taking cash and travellers cheques, £200 and £500 respectively .... am I out of touch or are travellers cheques still a good option?

    Thanks

Spain is not a country where Nationwide will be charging. Generally if you use your Nationwide card outside the Eurozone you will charged starting from the 1st June

    Hi
I have a nationwide flex account with a visa debit card. I go to Spain this week, should I exchange 400 pounds here, in spain or use the ATM over there with my card. I would appreciate any advice
    Thanks
Be careful when in Spain as they sometimes ask if you want to draw out as GBP - NEVER do this as they will use a rubbish exchange rate. So long as you always use the EURO rate you will be fine & this also goes for some restaurants, so make sure you never sign if you see a GBP equivalent amount and insist you want to pay in EUROS.

Definitely use your Nationwide debit card at the atm. Today's visa rate is 1.15 euro to the pound.

    Hi there

Can you please tell me where you can get the Nationwide visa rates? I was going to ask the same question as the poster you answered.

We are off to Germany and have a NW Flex and Gold CC. I usually always just get money out when we are away but as I have to pay my accomm over 500 euros I was getting a bit worried in case there is a problem getting the money over there ( not that there has ever been a problem before). I was going to order some currency to take but just looked at a couple of rates and only 1.08 or 1.09. I was therefore wanting to check NW rates

    Thanks

Just read an intersting article in the Telegraph. I'd attach the link bit don't know how. Maybe the time has come for the Euro to take a proper beating, and not before time. I know we're still in deep s**t but the GBP has been undervalued for far too long.

You're forgetting that it's to do with confidence as well as the actual strength of the currency. The UK could still end up having to seek a bail out from the IMF combined with having decided to print money - and for this reason, the Euro is a much safer bet.

You also forget that the Euro is a strong reserve currency, second only to the dollar. I think it's very unlikely that it'll be getting a 'beating' anytime soon.
