we went to Kalymnos which is a 10 min ferry ride so I know what i am talking about
There were hundreds of them!
First time I went i wasnt bitten but last time, paranoia kicked in and i splashed the anti repellant like bathwater to stop it
you cant avoid them outdoors, they nip you when you arent looking, but i cannot recommend enough paying for air conditioning (if you do have it as standard) and keeping your doors and windows closed all the time to stop them getting in during the day. otherwise you will be too hot and will want to open the window. enjoy greece its beautiful. kalymnos is nice as well if you are around the Mastihari area (where the boats leave)
Get a can of mossie spray from the local supermarket and give the room a thorough spray before beddy byes.0 -
you can order it from your Boot's pharmacy - it's a roll on and you just put a stripe of it down your arms and legs and across your forehead - used it in Corfu where the mossies were in swarms and never got bitten, you can also use it on the children.Titch0

Have a look at these threads on the Old Style Board for natural ways of repelling mosquitoes:

Also please be aware of this rule as a post has been removed from this thread
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). The stuff you want is called DEET. The best I found was a product in a small bottle called (not surprisingly) NEET DEET. Trick is to soak the tops of your socks in the stuff. Don't know where to get the stuff from try a google on it.
Get one of those things you plug in the wall with the small blue tablets in them. They do work.
Mozzies only come out at night. Dusk is the worst time. Avoid still water ponds they are where they hang out.
Keeping the doors and windows on the apartment shut is one option however there always seesm to be one little S o d that gets in. If you are suseptible to getting bitten then I would not rule out a mozzie net over the bed.In the beginning, the Universe was created. This made a lot of people angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea. DNA.0 -
OMG we stayed in Tignaki in September last year....... there were millions of the little critters! I've got to say I'm not normally bothered by mosquitos but I was eaten alive (and dead also!) Please, please take a couple of plug ins for your room as well as some DEET - Boots do a extra strength spray. I've stayed all over the Greek Islands and have never encountered anything like this but maybe it was just the time of year? Best to be safe than sorry though so you can enjoy this beautiful island.

buy the plug in mossie repellents. If you buy them abroad the plugs fit the plug points with no need for adaptors.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards.
