Mosquitos

Options
Hello all,

I remember reading a while ago something to do with Avon products keeping the mozzies away.

Can anyone confirm what it was and also if it works, i'm going away in 6 weeks time and from what i can gather there are loads of the little bleeders there and i've got sweet meat ;)

    where are you going?
Cus in some countries nothing but deet will work and sometimes not even that - I have very wide experience with Mozzies of a range of nationalities (shudder, yuc - I can hear the high pitched buzzing as i speak!)
I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000

    Going to Dalyan in Turkey,
It's sort of built on a lake so apparently they're everywhere

good news: supposedly mozzies dont like bright sunlight (yea right!) so they'll be less around while your sun lounging
    - best protection is to sit under a mozzie net in the evenings - only guarantee of less bites!
deet is great stuff - but its also highly toxic, I used it when I was in Central Africa cus I figured malaria was more toxic!
    - apart from that all mosquito repellents are pretty much the same in my opinion, I LOVE the smell of citronella though. Apparently eating loads of garlic makes you smell off putting to mozzies (and everyone else heh heh heh!)
You asked a specific question about Avon products and I have rambled on a bit randomly, cant help though it becomes a bit of an obsession if you have to live with it every day :D

Yup, Avon SSS....which incidently also works on horses :D

(It doesn't repel horses.......it keeps the flies off them :D )

Also you probably know that citronella is a good insect repellant, maybe stock up on stuff before you go. Eating garlic is supposed to deter them but you'd have to eat a lot of it.......stinky breath though...there may not be much romance for you ;)

Someone on here asked about a coil type thing that you light and it smoulders keeping bugs away, maybe worth a try for your room?

You can buy really cheap mosquito repellants in Turkey so don't buy too much before you go

The Avon product is called Skin So Soft, the dry oil spray, and it has to be the Woodland Fresh fragrance. Don't know if Avon still do it, though, although you can get it on ebay. It didn't work for me when I went to West Africa, neither did DEET, or tea-tree oil, or anything else! but that's just me, I must be really tasty to the little b*******s! Just make sure you take your anti-malarials, and buy the insect repellant coils sold locally. Mozzies are becoming more and more resistant to insecticides. Perhaps a flame-thrower would help? :D

If you do get bitten. Try rubbing a bit of spit on the bite. I used to find this helps to stop them from itching. I lived abroad for a few years and was told this while I was away. It always seemed to work for me.

AVON skin so soft has new packaging and names, the original Woodland Fresh is now 'Soft & Fresh' the dry oil body spray you need is product code 25742, currently £2.50 a bottle in current campaign 8.

I'm an Avon rep and my customers seem to swear by it!! There is also the body souffle, bath oil, foam bath and soap if you want the whole soft & fresh experience!!!
