Thanks consultant, very clear explaination--my SW leader is fairly new and isn't sure what each award requires. She's lovely though, friendly and approachable.
    Anytime;)

well I was so worn out from my walk earlier that I forgot to share it all with you and instead had my lunch and then had a snooze on the sofa with the cat!!

today's walk took 1 hour 11 mins, did 8279 steps and walked 4.96 km (which I understand is just over 3 miles). was enjoyable especially as the weather was cold but dry but was tired towards the end and was glad when I was on the home straight.

have already planned the next walk (which is longer again!) will aim to do this on wednesday or saturday.

on a different note, Im going out for an indian on xmas eve. Now my typical choices pre sw would be 2 poppadums and the dips, tandoori chicken or mixed kebab for starter followed by half portion of lamb tikka masala with mushroom rice and peshwari naan.

clearly this isnt very sw friendly and ok its only one night but im sure i can find something better to eat than the above!!!

I was thinking along the lines of the tandoori chicken for starter (no poppadums or dips) followed by say the tandoori mix grill. no rice or naan.

does anyone else have any suggestions? ive been scanning the menu but nothing has jumped out just yet..............

finally consultant 31 - thank you for that very helpful post. does that mean that if i walked 20 mins on monday, wednesday and friday and say an hour long walk on saturday for four weeks that i would get my bronze award?

    for silver
walk 20 mins mon, tues, weds, thur, fri and hour long walk on sat, maintained for 4 weeks

    for gold
walk 40 mins, mon, tues, wed, thur, fri, sat and hour long walk on sun maintained for 8 weeks?

would this be ok do you think? the timings are over what you have said in your post but are because of how the long the particular route I have in mind takes me.

Absolutely and well done :T I'm always impressed when someone takes on something so different than what they would normally do, and the fact that you appear to be enjoying it suggests that your Platinum award is not far away :T
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

ajgrist - Quorn meatballs are free on green (and red I'm guessing) day then you can have unlimited spaghetti with them. One of my faves!

AJGrist - join the club!! I am one pound short of 2 stone and I have either stayed the same, gained a half or a pound or lost the same for weeks and weeks now. I'm also with you on it being a way of life now.

But remember, it is the worst time of the year for losing weight what with the cold weather, functions, outings and not doing so much exercise as in the better weather SO ..... at least we're not gaining!;) I am desperate to get my 2 stone award this week so have been out for a long brisk walk yesterday and also tonight in the dark. I plan to do it every evening after my meal.

The best meatball-type recipe I've done is in the Original Book (Red) and is for the Spicy Thai Bites. They are superb and I often do them.
  • Flat Eric - No I didn't know the ins n outs of body magic but I see someone else has explained it now.
