yep a major, major pet hate of mine - it's just using the wrong word - ya might as well say apple or elephant or piano ... stoopid people.

hehe if you asked the folk I work with they would concur with my own assertion that I am Victor Meldrew's grumpier brother ;) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Retired Lady - would you let me know how the carrot and coriander soup tastes please hun, it was the raffled recipe last night and I am curious.

P.S I have just realised I need new glasses lol as I thought your name was Marlon

Lovely! Everyone in our house loves this soup - quick, easy! This is the recipe I use:

    1 onion
    1 potato
    1 lb carrots (roughly)
    1 tsp coriander
    1 - 1.5 litre veg stock
    salt and pepper to taste

Chop everything up, fry in frylight if you like, bung it all into a saucepan and bring to the boil, simmer for 30 minutes or so, whizz it up and serve! Free on green and red:j:j

    Love

  • Hi everyone :hello: :hello: :hello:

Been ‘lurking’ around the SW thread for a while now – a friend of mine (we have about the same amount to lose – lots!!) started SW classes 4 weeks ago and has now lost 18lbs:T . I was inspired both by her and by the successes and support here – so I started 3 weeks ago, and though I can’t justify the cost of a class at the minute, this thread has been a massive help.

To date I have lost 5lbs (6 in the first week, STS in the second:rolleyes: and put 1 on last week:mad: ). Which feels rubbish – good first week and then nothing/put on. I’m dreading Monday morning WI….. _pale_

Whats going on? I am writing everything down, having at least 3 HE’s, 8 – 10 syns a day (though I have been quite flexible about these as I try and cook everything myself – hate processed food – so I have been spreading them over the week a bit, but staying within 70)

Is it just that the plan doesn’t work for everyone? Am I eating too much? Should I cut down my syns? I tend to be starving on a morning so eat everything I’ve brought in the morning, then not hungry til tea time - 7ish. I am trying to be more active – mainly walking (an hour or so, 2 - 3 times a week). I really don’t want to give up on SW – just desperate to make it work for me!!!

I will include yesterday’s food diary to see what you guys think - if you don't mind, that is!

8.30am – 42g All Bran (HEB) + 2 Shape lasting Satis Yoghurt and a splash of SS Milk (1 syn), 1 banana

    10.00am – 2 apples, Ryvita Goodness Bar (+ one later = HEB)

11.30am –Pasta with VLF Yoghurt, VLF Cottage Cheese and some cucumber/celery/cherry toms mixed in

7.00pm – Mushroom Stroganoff with Brown Rice (2 syns for the splash of wine in the sauce, and used VLF Fromage Frais and mustard powder)

9.30pm – 1 Ryvita Goodness bar, 11g Sachet of Horlicks (2 Syns) made up with 250ml SS milk (HEA)

    Any ideas:confused:

NB – Lordy - it does look a lot when I look back up at it!! Have done WW in the past and wouldn’t be allowed half of that. :o

that said I am with David Renwick, the creator of Vicrtor, when he said he doesn't see Victor as being grumpy at all , but rather that he is someone who gets frustrated with all the things in life that are sent to try us - and don't we all get a little frustrated with these things ?:confused:

Hi hunni, welcome to the thread. Don't worry about eating too much, I eat loads.

I know you say you are not hungry till 7ish, do you still have a lunch? I find it easier to have 4 or 5 smaller meals than to have 3 huge ones. Are you vegetarian? Or do you have red days as well? Go through the book and look at super speed foods and try to munch on them. I'm a bit wierd with food lol instead of a packet of crisps I will sit and eat a jar of pickled onions. 5lb is still a good amount so don't be discouraged by that. Have you seen those horrible yukky yellow blobs of fat at meetings? They are horrible but just think how you got rid of some. Oh and did you know that the average chihuahua weighs 5lb?? So you've gotten rid of a chihuahua, :D.

If you need any help finding out syns, planning meals or recipes just holler. Don't give up hun it does work and we are all in the same boat.
