i got some Quark yesterday, can i just ask what is it like? Is it like Philly? I got it cos so many of you seem to use it, but ive always hated the name (sounds like a Startrek aliens name) and I hate cottage cheese so I thought it was the same type of thing?
A few of you mentioned leaving it overnight with garlic etc to absorb flavour, so I was wondering what its like straight from the tub. I dont want to open it until im actually going to use it.

Quark is very bland, but absorbs flavours well so loads of things can be added to it. I either add frozen mixed berries/other fruit as a dessert (in Winter I microwave them so they're warm). Or fresh herbs, finely chopped onion and herb salt, as a potato/salad/other topping. I also use fizzy water to thin it, something I learnt when living in south Germany where they eat loads of quark. I love quark and wish it came in bigger tubs! I hate cottage cheese too!

    Well done Jolene!
    Anytime;)
  • well done jolenem:D on your lost

Well done Jolene. Brill weight loss.

I have weigh in tonight will be nice if I have a loss. :)

I like quark with garlic, onions and spinach. But I do agree that it is a bit bland on its own but I add it to curries and sauces to make them a tad creamier. x

Good morning everyone! This is my plan for todays food:

Breakfast -reduced fat egg mayonnaise on scan bran plus fruit and yogurt (free+2.5 syns+free+free)

Lunch - roasted in extra virgin olive oil (1tblsp)vegetables (butternut squash, pumpkin, onion an peppers) mixed with couscous and served on a bed of lettuce (free+heb+free+free)

Dinner - SW salmon fishcakes with SW chips and peas (heb+free+free)

    milk in coffees - hea
syns - to be decided - at the moment its a toss up between a couple of glasses of wine or a real chocolate brownie - both would be about 15 syns each so would have to have one or the other - you decide:rotfl::rotfl:! I will choose whichever gets the most votes:cool:;)

    Hey all

Still feeling rubbish with this cold, took the day off work and not going to uni tonight so thought I would treat myself tonight, got a quorn chilli in the slow cooker so I dont have to worry about that now. Thinking of having Jacket chips with this and maybe some garlic quark!

Anyone tried any of the Grassingtons range of protein products? I saw they were a bit cheaper than quorn stuff but not sure about syns either.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Ewwww quark on its own is awful but as said before its good when cooked with something! I infuse it with garlic then stuff it inside chicken breasts. YUM!

Well done Joleen - :T :T :T thats fab :j :j :j and ladybird was it? big :T :T :T :T :T to both of you and to everyone else

Retired lady. I would be tempted by both so I would half the brownie and have one glass of wine :D

My green menu for today includes:

    Breakfast - Hifi bar

Lunch - 2 small Jacket Potatoes served with 200g snackpot of beans, 28g chese (HEA) and salad - lettice, cucumber, pepper, spring onions, carrots.

Pudding after lunch! Aldi Optifit yogurt muesli

Tea 85g gammon (HEB) jacket chips, 2 fried eggs and button mushrooms

Pudding after tea! (as If Im going to need it) Aldi optifit yogurt swirlled with 1 teaspoon of lemon curd

    Snack : banana

Treat: Hmmm thinking a glass of wine tonight while I watch Im a celebrity :D

estimated syn spend 8.5 (1 for lemon curd, 6, for wine, 1.5 for sweet chilli sauce).

someone mentioned in the last day or so about me substituting the hi fi bar for two alpen lights. I have done this in the past particularly when Im on a red day and have used bread for lunch and then had a jacket with my tea therefore using both HEB up because it means you still get a treat of a snack bar but are only expending 3 syns.

I absolutely adore the Hi fi choc orange bars though and cant resist them !! You could say Im addicited!! i dont really feel like breakfast when I get up so they are my morning treat.
  • retired lady - my vote is for the wine...
re quark - I don't really get on with it at all, but I do like 'eat naturally smooth cottage cheese' (and I dislike cottage cheese) - I certainly recommend it, much more like philli than quark IMO

Hi all - hope you are having a good day.

today is red, so I have had

    B Banana and mullerlight
    tea - semi from hA
hot choc - 3 syns + milk from other A
L grilled lowestoft kipper (yummmmmm) with scrambled eggs and w/m bread (HB)
D salmon, new pots (HB) and either green beans, courgettes or something snazzy with fennel as I just got loads from the market :D

syns hot choc (as mentioned) and a glass of wine tonight (6)

Grassingtons stuff are nice, I prefer the peppered steak style grills however they are an acquired taste as the rest of my house hates em.
