Oh yeah to the person who was asking, a few pages back, about snacks to provide the sweet hit we crave and remove the craving for choc - couple more that occurred to me.

    Fresh - pineapple - nice n sweet

this one surprised me some - bought some Bahlsen Afrika biscuits from Morrison the other day and expected each one migh be about 4-5 syns .... but .... to my surprise just one syn each and they are seriously scrummy - bout the size and thickness of an after eight but very yummy

  • I struggle with snacks. I can't have multipacks of crisps or fun size chocolate in the house or I'll eat it all in one go! I have made the fake ferreros before and they are nice. I can be trusted with a jar of nuttela!
I tend to make up a sugar free jelly and just before it sets whisk in a huge tub of fromage frais, but this isn't really a snack, it's a dessert.

Do we have a sw snack recipe thread?

I had a good weekend. Stuck to the plan and had a lovely steak for dinner on Sat along with mushies onion, beef tomato and tenderstem broccoli and king prawns with lime and chilli flakes. I normally have green days so this was a real treat. We did have a bottle of red wine each though (hic) but I think ive saved enough syns this week and will stick to 5 until my weigh in on Tuesday.

  • heres one to try if you like the SW ferero rocher thingies.
take about a tablespoon of cold nutella and roll into a sausage.
break up an alpen light bar and blend in the food processor so it resembles breadcrumbs as best you can, put them on a plate and roll the nutella sausage in them until coated, wrap in cling film and place in the freezer until you want to eat it.
this has used 4 syns and 1/2 HB choice.

For low syn/free snack I much on fruit and yoghurts mostly but at night I make a dip with low fat nat yoghurt mixed with dried chives and curry powder, then dip carrot stick in, it sounds boring but the carrots are so sweet and because im crunching for so long it takes the 'nibbly' feeling away.
I also like rolled up bit of ham with extra light laughing cow in it, oh and pickled onions, and bread sticks. god that all sounds like a 1960's party , all that is missing is a pinapple and cheese hedgehog !

Sounds yumm - but I always worry about using curry powder or other spices without cooking them out - don't they irritate your stomach?
  • yep often hungry - sometimes even when I've eaten shed loads - maybe my bod has just been used to having all food groups in unlimited amounts and ridiculous amounts of white bread with hot meals too :o:o

Good example the other week - 3 fairly sizeable portions of BB lasagne with loads of SW chips and I wasn't exactly stuffed :(:o

They do say if you're hungry on SW you're not doing it right - dunno what I'm doin wrong though :confused:

The body can't always tell the difference between hunger and thirst, so when feeling what you think is hunger, have a drink, wait 20mins then if you still think you're hungry, eat.

You should be drinking a minimum of 2½ litres of (non-alcoholic) fluid a day. If you have tea and coffee as part of this, make it weak.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

weak coffee ?:eek: bleugh no thanks lol - I tend to limit to one and occasionally two coffees a day as I use semi for coffee so don't want to go over my milk allowance.

    thanks for the advice/pointer :beer::T

Well Mix 2 Max went out the window today but I think I've done alright...

Breakfast - quorn sauages, flat mushrooms and fried egg (in frylight)

Lunch - Jacket potato and left over chickpea curry

Afternoon snacks - Toffee mullerlight with an options sachet mixed in, then a cheese toastie made with 2 slices of nimble bread and a small slice of edam

Dinner - Gammon steak (taken as a healthy extra and also used up a few syns) SW chips and a fried egg

Drinks - tonnes of tea with skimmed milk, diet coke and water

Syns other than those mentioned above - a couple of chocolate biscuits

Man I'm stuffed after all that, I hope it sounds ok and I havent screwed up at all?

  • I'm making butternut squash and red lentil curry tonight for me, chicken and mushroom for him (non sw) and I've made shedloads of bombay bahjis (sw) for me so I don't get all resentful that he has onion bahjis and samosas! In fact, there should be loads left for me to take to work for lunch tomorrow.
