Know what you mean, can't believe how many people want to 'loose' weight0

I've looked through my SW pack and can't see anything about how many weeks you are allowed to have off without paying. Like holidays and illness. Anybody know please?
Sounds like there are still loads of pounds (in weight of course;) ) disappearing fast from people on here. Keep up the good work!
It used to be 4 weeks per year but it's now 6. You do need to let your Consultant know beforehand though if possible (if you have the new ExpressWeigh, you will have to let her know beforehand so she has time to input before class).I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Chaos_Theory wrote: »Lost 1lb at WI yesterday. I know I can do better, but I've been really resentful for the last 2 months. I keep seeing colleagues and family eating whatever they want, whenever they want, whilst I have baked potato and cottage cheese almost every day and can't remember what pastry tastes like! I have stuck to the plan for each meal, but have helped myself to handfuls of sweets and a few pringles a couple of times during the week.
Huge argument with himself just before WI. He went to supermarket to get milk, yogurts and bread, but arrived back with loads of crap as well (need to update GC thread as well!). He thinks I have a restrictive diet and am not adventurous enough...Here's a clue......I'M ON A SODDING DIET! He bought 3 Uncle Ben's rice packets (5 syns), Quorn southern fried burgers (2.5 syns each. Not too bad, but I save my syns and wouldn't dream of wasting 5 just on a meal!) and 4 non low fat supernoodles (god knows how many syns)....So not only do I now have to struggle with my resentfulness, but added to that is a load of food in the cupboard I can't have and he doesn't like. This is the man that can't afford to pay all his credit cards minimum amounts, but can buy crap we don't need from a supermarket. Well done... I'm still fuming!
The idea of SW is that you don't think of it as a diet but a new way of eating which you can do forever - you can't live on jp and cottage cgeese for ever!!
If you try to get away from the idea that you have to save syns for something yummy, you may be able to make your meals more interesting - use extra mayo, have some tasty sauces with meat dishes etc etc.
Unless you change the way you think about food optimising you will never get to grips with healthy eating as a 'normal' activity.
How do you know those people you see "eating anything they want, whenever they want" haven't been really careful up to that point.
I'm not picking fault, just trying to make you see how a change in your thought patterns may affect the way you see your meals.
Gosh, I hope that all makes sense, I've got a stinker of a cold and am off to bed soon!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

SW *is* a diet. It restricts what you eat otherwise we wouldn't need to count syns or HEs. It works and I'm glad I do it, but it's a diet and should be thought of as such. It isn't particularly healthy eating either compared to how I ate before (or at least the meals bit...let's not talk of snacks!). Any regime that suggests so many uses for pasta'n'sauce, mugshots and mullerlights, isn't! They have so many ingredients that aren't great. I have got round it by adapting most of my recipes (which is easy as all I had to do for most of them was change olive oil for frylight). My meals are fine being mostly free (maybe 2 syns) and using HEs. If I used my syns for meals then I'd be stuck with just free food in the evening and sometimes I want a glass of wine or bag of crisps. I much prefer to save my syns for the time I'm most likely to blow it.
I know what my friends and family eat, so I know whether they are being careful or not. Some people have good metabolisms, some don't. I had a fab one then turned 30 and gave up my 30 B&H a day habit at the same time. I ballooned. I know I can't eat how I used to and get away with it.
I found your response rather patronising. I was sounding off about my husband spending money we don't have on food neither of us is going to eat. Maybe offering
quick and easy green day veggie meals to do when I have come home after a 12hr day at work and cannot face cooking so shove yet another potato in the microwave would have been a way of constructively criticising my potato habit!I saw two shooting stars last night

I cooked this the other Sunday to have instead of potato with beef stew and I really liked it. I had heard that it was best to cook it in milk, which I did and then drained the milk off and mashed it.
It wasn't a strong taste, just vaguely celery flavour and as it was free I enjoyed it even more! ( I used the milk from my HEA)

I've not followed SW for the last 12 months so have put back on the 1/2 stone I lost.
I didn't feel I was getting any support from my leader and changed then I wasn't free on the day of the new leader so changed groups but didn't find the new leader too helpful.
I need some motivation to come back.0 -

Hi and welcome :hello:
Ive just restarted SW after a 2st loss in March-May but I had also put on just over 1/2 a stone, so I decided to do it on my own using online and this forum, so far I have lost 5lbs(well i shouldnt actually be weighing myself til 2morro) this is just my first week.
Ive picked up loads of tips and recipes on here. I plan to get back to a class soon, but cant really afford it at the moment, but I know it made a huge difference to me, so hopefully you'll find a class you'll enjoy.
I think its a great eating plan and I really enjoy working out new recipes and planning my menu, I feel much more in control.
if youve done it before then you'll know howgood it is, it wont be long and you'll be losing that 1/2 stone.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

Ive had it twice in the last week and I enjoyed it. I cut my celeriac into chunks/slices boiled for 3 - 4 mins then drained and stuck on a baking tray which I then sprayed with frylight. When I did it last week, it crisped up better and went well with my steak which is what someone suggested on here (dont know who but thanks). I did it last night with butternut squash and other mixed veg but I have a cold so everything tasted strange and I think it is better just cooked on its own tray.
I havent tried mashing it -Im not a big lover of mash so that doesnt really appeal but I sometimes I use up both my HEB on a hi fi bar and bread so when Im having meat, I try to have lots of mixed roasted veg rather than a spud which Im finding I dont miss.0
