I have just posted on another thread about negative vibes at our SW class.
Is anybody else finding this?I can see now why so many people just weigh in and go home because some weeks it's nothing but moaning and others it's people just running on about how thrilled they are to have lost a pound when they've been out and they insist on telling everyone how many puddings, bowls of cheese & chips and curries they've had. It's almost like they feel they have managed to cheat the system, but usually they haven't because the next week they've gained maybe 3lb!!
I can't see much point in paying £4.50 every week, travelling time and petrol to get there and then ignore what SW are trying to tell us. I feel so much healthier since I have been following this plan and it really is NOT difficult. It just takes a little time to get your head around it and if you are willing to try new recipes (and I know a lot of people on here are!:j ) using healthy ingredients, what could be easier? I for one, don't need negative people around me.0 -
What about the Linda McCartney veggie sausages? I haven't tried them but have a pkt in freezer. I do my Quorn sausages in my George Foreman griller or sometimes make a "Free" casserole and I like them in that.0
-
The Morrisons Eat smart ones are rather good, and easily the best 'very low fat' sausages I have ever tried.
They are free on red, which means you would have to count your mash as an HB
edit - or as SC says, have them on green with lots of mash, but 3 syns each.
PS I live nowhere near a Morrisons, but when I notice one I buy a few packets as they freeze really well.0 -
Thanks all... I've just done my online shop and have gone for Bowyers less than 5% fat which is 1 syn on a red day (or 4 on a green) so that settles it! I'm saving my 2 HEB's for a mountain of mash.... Mmmmmm. Can't wait
.....feeling rather sad at the thought of getting excited over a sausage... no giggling at the back please!!!;)0 -
after a busy day at work, I didnt get in till late so my planned meal of steak and celeriac chips went out of the window and is postponed until wednedsday/thursday instead.
Instead of a nice healthy meal, I chose the birds eye thai chicken (7 syns for 2 pieces on red) and about a dozen chips (unknown syn value). I could have had some nice jackets which would have been more than tasty but I went for what I thought was the easy option but I have to say it was horrid so wont be having it again in a hurry. mccain chips just dont have that wow factor anymore. I think my tastebuds have changed. I think cardboard would have been tastier. :rotfl:
Weigh in tomorrow which im nervous about but planning to sit down either tonight or tomorrow and plan a week's menu using as few syns as possible.
will let you know if I think of anything totally yummycertainly looking forward to a huge portion of jacket chips later in the week.

My oh is in the middle of SW chips, following the recent mag, but as usual they are peely wally! He followed it to a tea, par boiled, left them to dry, rough them up (ooer) spray with fry light then in oven, they should be ready but still they are white and unappetising looking. any tips please.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0

''peely wally''
Maris piper potatoes?
200 ish degrees, preheated?
in your situation I would whack up the heat, give em another spray and a sprinkle of salt (helps them to dry out and crisp up), get them on to the top shelf and turn every 10 - 15 mins for another half hour.......
does anything here help?0 -
WI tonight, and Ive lost the pound that I put on last week so Im very happy with that. back on track for the 2 stone now, come on 2 stone, come on!!! :rotfl: good luck/well done to everyone else!
Flat Eric, thanks so much for the poem, I did lots of copies and everyone took one home to stick on their fridge, so hopefully a bit of inspiration there, its on my fridge already!
nic2075, I love SW chips. I dont par boil them first. just slice them up, I even leave the skins on, spray the oven tray with fry light and then spray the pieces of potato, cover in salt and pepper (and sometimes chilli powder and sometimes dried mixed herbs) and cook for half an hour. Crispy lovely chips, lovely with loads of vinegar on them!!
PS We had free samples of the new Luscious Lemon Hifi bar tonight, they are sooooooooooooooooooo nice!!!!! I highly recommend them to everyone!!
PPS Skint Catt I have to totally agree with you about the Sweet and Sour Mugshots, they are amazingly gorgeous!! Hope everything is ok for you at home now xx *hugs*You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

:rotfl:sorry, its a Scottish term for white, pasty etc.
we sprayed them with more fry lite and turned up the heat, they came out a bit white, but tasted yummy. I will try different pots next time and try the salt thing.
thanks:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
morning.
sorry for the double post on celeriac. My computer went a bit mad last night and I thought my message hadnt appeared but obviously it did, twice!! sorry about that.
thank you angie loves veg. Im planning a very low syn day so will update everyone later. Thank you for your post re celeriac. Will indeed let you know how I get on
Nice day. you are at the beginning of your journey. When you learnt to drive or ride a bike it didnt happen overnight. SW takes a bit of getting used to and some planning so in your first week, things arent going to be perfect. if you gain when you weigh in on thursday then please dont give up. Have a look at the dont quit poem I posted the other day which I have re-posted below for ease of finding.
compare this week to a previous week before you joined SW. You have eaten better so give yourself a pat on the back. If the plan still confuses you then when you go to class this week, why not sit in the new member chat again? you have this forum so plenty of support here also. after a year on SW, Im still learning ! Have a look at the SW mag - and perhaps follow one of the weekly menus and see how you get on with that.
Why not sit down today and plan your menu for the next 10 odd days? that will take you up to weigh in a week on Thursday. Show this to your consultant at class and see what they say. they can then identify any errors or mishaps. alternatively you can post your proposed menus on here.
follow whichever plan suits you best be it red or green. There is no plan that is easier to follow in my opinion, it just depends on what you enjoy the most i.e. whether you enjoy a lot of meat or whether you are a big pasta / rice / potato eater.
It does sound as though green might be your preferred option so why not try a few green days? A typical green day for me would be as follows: -
Breakfast - Hi Fi Bar (HEB) Mullerlight Yogurt (Free) Fruit (Free)
Lunch - 2 medium jacket potatoes (Free on Green) Heinz Mean Beanz (Free on Green) 28g cheddar (HEA)
Tea - Jacket Chips (Free on Green) 2 fried eggs cooked in fry light (superfree) mushrooms (superfree) and 85g Ham (HEB). Sometimes instead of the ham I have the quorn cracked black pepper fillets which are superfree (free on both the red or green plan which then frees up a HEB option perhaps for some bread.
pudding if I need it - mullerlight yogurt.
drinks - tea /water / milk from my HEA allowance.
this more than fills me up - i do tons and tons of jacket chips so dont feel deprived and this is my typical monday comfort meal.
why dont you post a list of your favourite foods and then we can give you some suggestions how you can incorporate them into SW.
Don't Quit
When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
And forget all about being healthy and thin.
So What! You went over your Syns a bit,
It's your next move that counts...So don't you quit!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now.
You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
If you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the strugglers, when loosing their grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
That the race wasn't over...they still could have won.
Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
But facing each challenge will help you grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit,
If you bite it, you write it....But don't you quit!
Thank you so much. You have inspired me.The green menu is sooo my kind of food........will hang in there til thur and speak with my consultant...this thread is Fab.......0
