lol, i bet it is so going to change to being like slimming world. My friends on it, and shes 15 stone same as me, and has been on it a year and has lost a few lb and put them back on all year. She has 20 points a day so lives on super noodles and chocolate and crisps and it really doesnt teach you to eat well at all. Ive lived with her before and i dont think she even knows where the fruit or veg isle is! It seems to be an aweful diet.SW Started 27/08/0868.5 lb to Loose

Hi all
WW started doing the 'no count' plan a while ago, and that is very like SW. I haven't tried it myself, but I did follow the WW plan for a while, counting points, and it's really easy to waste them on treats like alcohol and chocolate, and then when you're hungry all you can eat is salad and vegetables!

Can you post what your OH and DD will/won't eat and maybe we can come up with some new ideas for you - might just get you interested in things again?
I'll give you an example today. OH is at work till 5.45pm, DD1 is flying back from Lanzarote and will want something to eat probably at about 7-9.00pm and DD2 was home from college at 4.00 and hungry.
I decided to do shepherd pie because we all eat it apart from DD1. She hates mince so I have to cook chicken to put in the bottom of hers. DD2 has to have cauliflower cheese with shepherds pie made from scratch. So thats 4 shepherds pies, one made with chicken and cauli cheese. If I was to stick to the SW plan I would either have to make myself a separate pie with quorn mince or have the meat and top it with something other than potato. I love the recipe on the SW website (its in their 7 day sample plan). The only trouble is I can't find celeriac anywhere! Must be out of season!
It just all seemed to be so complicated that I decided to be easy on myself today and Im having normal sheps pie and I bought a ready-made cauli cheese for DD2 instead (she took one look at it and said "uggh, Im not eating that!".)
I have this sort of trouble each day and its doing my head in!!! I never know when DD1 is going to be home for a meal because she's either at work or at the stables working with her horse. Sometimes she turns up starving and sometimes not and doesn't always answer texts asking her if she wants food!
Tomorrow DD2 and I are having home-made Chilli Con Carne and the other two have to sort themselves out with a takeaway (its my night off cooking because I usually have a Chilli ready in the freezer!) I think if the SW plan was just put in front of me to eat I would stick to it!0 -
TG you're looking gooood!
Couldn't see the pics earlier as I was at work but can now!0 -
Beachbeth your children sound as if they're old enough to cook for themselves if they won't eat what you're making. You need to think about you and what you want. It's hard enough cooking for a family without having to do umpteen different meals.
Sorry to get on my soap box, but this is one of my pet rants. I have a friend who did exactly what you do and is still doing it at 60 years of age, for adult kids who come and go as they please
Tractorgirl - well done indeed, you look brilliant :TI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Lots of inspirational losses and indeed pictures now - well done all. I am going for my first weigh in tonight - have been good 95% of the time but don't reckon I have lost weight. May get a pleasant surprise but not holding my breath - will post back later.0

Tractor girl you look brilliant!
Well I have had my 1st day & so far no syns!!!
B - Bran flakes from HE's
L - Ham & tomato omlette
D - will be chicken with a baked potato & veg.
My questions so far are -
What is the password all about?? Is there a website with lots of info on it??
If I have a fave recipe what is the easiest way of working out the synn value etc?? Is there a tool on the website?0 -
OK, beachbeth, I'd be inclined to take the mince in the shepherds pie as an HEA on a green day, and use bovril for the stock rather than bisto or whatever you normally use, to keep the syns low/zero. Then I'd do three the same but shallow fill one (yours) and put more potato on top of that one. I'd do carrots and peas or similar for veg and blow the "has to have" cauliflower cheese! Maybe do cauli as veg and grate some cheese over and nuke it to melt (then you could have that too, if the cheese was a healthy A) if carrots and peas is a step too far.
I'd like to say I'd never cooked anything special for DD, but that would be a lie - one time when she was 2 or 3 I did pasta with a tomato sauce and she sobbed so much that there was no meat in it I went and defrosted some mince, cooked it in record time, and added it to her sauce! But I don't do separate meals for separate people unless it is a using up leftovers day.
Would your older one eat chicken or turkey mince? Then you could do a shepherd-type pie with chicken in the bottom for everyone.0
