It would cost us nothing if everyone reading this thread went to http://www.tesco.com/help/jump.asp?choiceA=1&choiceB=1 and (mentioning this MSE thread) said they would not shop with Tesco either online or in store until this matter was resolved.
I am more than happy to do this - and was in the process of doing so - but then thought that it may be best to wait until Igloo has written her letter etc and had a response before doing so. This is so that we do not alert Tesco in advance of the fact that their appalling conduct is already in the public domain. However, if this is not satisfactorily resolved i.e. to Igloo's satisfaction, then we should do anything and everything to make them squirm and grovel. Not even wrong0 -
Shocking, just shocking. IMO the amount of coupons you used was a lot.... but within what their policy supposedly is.
Just reading another thread about tescos.....also shocking. I've had problems myself with coupons. I had a "discussion" a few months ago after getting the policy confirmed in writing. Unfortunately the wording in places was open to some interpretation.......and the CS witch that read it incorrectly. Even if faced with this evidence they still refused my coupons, they refused to call store support.
I was told the store manager would call me.......but that never happened. HQ were supposed to call the CS and clarify the position..... but HQ got told a pack of lies. Ever time I tried to speak to the store manager he wasn't in......and nobody knew his schedule.
They really do seem to be royally messing up CS lately........and I think it needs something sorting.....personally - if they came up with a 10% coupon policy across the board I'd be happy.......but they need to agree *some* standard.0 -
ok igloo i see your point was just trying to understand why you used that much in coupons.
there looks to be one rule for one shop and another for another shop for taking coupons.
maybe tesco should just make one rule for all tesco's and post it on here as well have it at every till point as well.
i was noway saying that you should get banned for it, and maybe we should share a thought for that poor checkout girl as well, because she would have been told off for taking that many coupons of that horrible person that you had to deal with today.
hope you got there name's,so people higher up in tesco can deal with asap.0 -
Maybe it being in the public domain will help.0

good luck igloo, i am really sorry to hear of what happened to you. hope you have better luck than we did with tesco. they seem to think an apology is sufficient, when they still owe us £32 not to mention that we are now out of pocket for complaining. we haven't given up, fiance is going to phone again this week. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

Igloo if I was you I would go and see a solicitor immediately and then get each of your children their own independant solicitors to pursue an action against Tesco for false improsonment in the very least, any half qualified ambulance chaser would chew Tesco up on this one!
Whilst I probably wouldn't have liked to be in your shoes at the time I certainly wouldn't mind being in them now. I think you will find very quickly that Tesco will officially have a change of attitude with regards to this incident once you have sought legal advice, again I strongly suggest you enlist seperate legal advice for each child, this will not only multiply the benefits to you and your family but also help to increase any future award.
Just remember if you offer them a dog chewed teddy bear and broken bicycle pump in exchange for goods it is their choice to accept or decline.
THEY DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO IMPRISON YOU JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE YOUR PAYMENT METHOD
In offering coupons in exchange for goods you as the customer are doing nothing wrong, as for Tesco they are then in turn presenting these coupons to a manufacturer on the sole understanding they are taken in payment for the specified goods at that point an offence has been commited and not before, trust me this is not something Tesco want tested in a court of law!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Yes. I didn't mean that it should not be public, but that Igloo may want to do this herself first without Tesco being immediately aware that it already was public knowledge. I am happy to go with whatever the OP prefers.
As long as I get to give Mr Tesco serious grief over it at some point. Not even wrong0 -
It pays to remember a store security officer has no more power of arrest than any other citizen and no right whatsoever to physically detain you against your will and if he or she does they damn well better have good reason if it ever goes to court because it is the companies responsibility also to advise all security staff of their legal powers and obligations.
If one thing is certain if you are not aware of your rights they WILL be abused.
And at the risk of getting flamed for being mercenary: add a couple of children and k'ching k'ching k'ching !Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
no need to say sorry igloo.
hope you get them sorted out goodtime.0
