  • Enquire Within Upon Everything. I have had this for years and am still finding new things in it. It is utterly fascinating - prepare to waste a few hours when you get it! First published in 1850 but with reprints going on well into the 20th century (mine is from 1923) it tells you all you need to know about OS household management, cookery, sewing, plus stuff on repairs, gardening, ettiquette, grammar etc. Apparently it was this book that inspired Tim Berners Lee to invent the internet.

Lucky you  Mine is a 1988 reprint, and I'll agree that it's invaluable.

Found a great book over the local library called Granny's Book of Good Old-Fashioned Common Sense by Linda Gray. It is reaaly interesting as it has household tips and tricks, cooking, growing veg, even how to keep backyard chickens !! There are pictures showing you how to knit and sew. Also lots of old style famly games and crafts. Looking forward to having a good read later :D .

Many thanks, welshgranny - that sounds like a really useful book.

Just checked on Amazon - it's available from $21.24 (for a used copy) from the US only. What a shame - but I'll check out my own local library - fingers crossed :D.

I'm looking for a book for helping guide me through bulk cooking and freezing this food. I've tried in the past but food always ends up watery. Can anybody tell me if this book is any good unfornately cant find any reviews for it or can sombody please recommend another book to me? I know there's a lot of information on here which i have picked up on unfornately cant get on here as much so would prefer to buy a good book to guide me through for a family of 5 when me and my wife start uni.

Would prefer if people recommend books available on https://www.play.com but if the book isn't too steep i could buy from amazon.

    Thanks Very much.

    Hi
I have this book though it has a different cover as I've had it a long time now.
I found most of the recipes too american for my taste, casseroles with mayonnaise in etc, if you do buy the book you will need a set of american cup measures.
There are a lot of suggestions in the book about what biblical topics to discuss with children at the dinner table & suitable topics of conversations with forigners.
If you im me your address I'd be happy to send you my copy as I don't use it.
