Has anyone mentioned the Basics tortilla chips - 25p for a big bag? We melt some cheese over them and put a big dish of them in the middle of the table when we have chili con carne for tea (basics kidney beans - about 19p!). They (the hot cheesy tortillas) are a big hit in our house:p
Also, the basics chocolate digestives - about 35p and just as nice as McVities
I have read so much about the teabags that I have bought a pack ready for when current stock of non Basic ones runs out. If they are good, that will save me a fortune as we drink tea non stop!
we love the basics biscuits - rspecially the bourbons! And the tortilla chips are fantastic!
had the basics pasta sauce a couple of days ago - no moans at all!!!:T:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
How does the mayonnaise compare to Hellmans? I would be quite happy to get it at 41p however my partner keeps harping on about brands!!
I already don't buy Kellogs Cornflakes as find Basics ones are good..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
turn into miss sly like me and fill the hellmans jar with the basic stuff, men never notice! Even if they do they'll just think its strange for a little while then get used to it:rotfl:Lynzie Lou :dance:0

i find basic mayo much nicer than hellmans its not as thick very nice and my partner doesnt complain about it.
i freeze cheese all the time though i tend to cut it down into smaller blocks so that it doesnt take too long to defrost,i have been doing this for years and have never had a problem with it:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0 -
We use the basics mayo and find it great. Plus the fat content is less than 50% of the Hellmans!Call me Carmine....

I concur 100%. It's the very best way to cure brand snobbery! Maybe some would think it a little sneaky but IMO entirely justified to see if the brand snob is actually reviewing with their eyes and not their taste buds. Brand name stuff isn't packaged beautifully (and colourfully) for nowt.Call me Carmine....

Half the fat? That's an even better reason to get it then! I was passing Tesco's the other day but didn't know if their value one would be as nice as Mr S one, as alot of posters say they prefer Mr S's basics range.. Bought some basics Choc Ices this week but won't be buying again. Very poor substitute for ice cream inside!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

I bought some basics frozen peas, never again, they were like bullets!
I cooked them for twice as long as it says on the bag and they were still like bullets.
The only way I could cook them to be soft enough to be enjoyable was for 40 mins in the steamer!
:rolleyes:0 -
