Got my first big shop from sainsburys today and am so far impressed with their basic range I bought the 400g wafer thin ham and corned beef slices and they are half the price and much tastier I also got the coleslaw which is a bit watery but still nice, pasta and crisp snacks and biscuits. They all look really good for a "value" range
If you tip the coleslaw out and add a grated carrot it soaks up more of the dressing and tastes far better too:)
I do this with all 'value' coleslaws, they end up tasting much nicer then more expensive ones, and cheaper than making from scratch. Also add anything else you have a bit of, red onion, pepper, whatever.
Btw I think Sainsburys is the best of the value coleslaws.0 -
Basics Corned beef sold out this morning! :-(0

The biscuits from the basics range are really nice, esp the cookies. I use to always take them to festivals! The tomato pasta sauce is naasssty as hell, stay away! Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt!0

if you don't mind a bigger pack, you're better off buying mince at aldi - £2.40 for 1kg. sainsbury's works out at £3 per kg
I was so shocked to discover this when I went to buy my spag bol ingredients the other day! I was like
How on earth can they justify a 25% jump overnight?0 -

The 4 pack of toilet rolls are 70p now! I remember when they were 30-something.
At that price, the 6 double-length rolls for £2 are slightly better value.0 -
The £2 Basics loo roll is also better value than Tescos "Value" range.0
