Thanks. It doesn't say 10 instalments on my bill.

Does anyone know when single payment direct debits are taken? My rates bill doesn't say.

    29th April

All rates are paid by 10 monthly instalments if not being paid in full for the discount

You'll need to call and change onto monthly instalments, you must be automatically set up for one single payment

So it's not the "last banking day of the month" then?
  • If you are over 60 and living alone, you can get up to 20% rate relief. You need to call 08453006360 and get an application form.:T

    Unfortunately it's 70 and not 60
  • Sorry bout that!!! Anyway, if you are on Pension Relief, you are also entitled to a discount.
  • In any other part of the UK you'd get a discount if you lived on your own no matter what your age.

Not here. Apparently our politicians and civil servants couldn't manage to cope with the complexity of that.

Apparently the Land & Property Services can't manage to cope with the complexity of paying by cash anymore either!

I always used to pay my rates in cash, but was told that they don't accept cash anymore. I refuse to set-up a DD as I want to remain in control of my payment date. They also don't accept CC. This is disappointing.

It used to be the case where "cash is king" but it appears that LPS along with other organisations don't think so anymore.

Although LPS may no longer accept cash directly, according to the notes that issued with my bill apparently you can still pay by cash at any post office, bank, building society, garage or local shop (Centra, Mace, Spar and Vivo) displaying the PayZone logo. So in that sense the number of places accepting rates payments has actually increased.
