Hola folks ... bit random, but hey, my mind has apparently shut down!
Recently moved banks so all the direct debits etc are filtering through ... thing is the rates don't appear to have come out ... at first I thought, darn it ... then my mind started saying, you only pay rates 10 months of the year, Feb and March are non paying months, then you pick up with your new bill in April ... could this be true or am I rather scarily making things up????

Your spot on, your direct debit will continue in April as normal

The Rates Calculator on the LPS Site is working to 2007/2008 figures.
To get your figure for 2008/2009 you need to multiply the Capital Value of your property by the total domestic rate in the pound for the Council area you live in and I don't see these new 'Poundages' published online yet?

For Rates Year 2008/2009 (i.e. 1 April this year to end March 2009 inclusive) water will be paid from the existing rates’ revenue. This funding is mooted to be £109m - equivalent to £160 of the average household's rate bill.
For Rates Year 2009/2010 (i.e. 1 April 2009 to end March 2010 inclusive) it is expected that Water will be billed separately with consumers paying two-thirds of their full liability.
For Rates Year 2010/2011 (i.e. 1 April 2010 to end March 2011) it is expected that full water bills will be levied.
