Sorry to hear you've not been well Polly, had missed you on here :grouphug: - we totally understand about you not being able to do a card so no need to be embarassed!
And Savvy, welcome back, I had been wondering where you were too.... in answer to your question, next week is decoupage.
chickadee you must have a lot of patience to do a card like that with such a fragile material! I think mumoftwo gave up on trying to weave it, understandably, I don't think I would manage it...
I've been a bit busy while the weathers not been not so good, I modified an abstract pva/tissue paper card I made a while ago (the colours weren't right originally):
Close-up detail:
and then had a go at making another one of these - but forgot to read my post here on page 1 that says you mix the pva with water! Wondered why it didn't blend very well!:
Then, finally made a conventional card with tissue paper - the flowery pattern in the centre is also tissue paper (the one I got from Woolworths) but it is stuck on card so looks like patterned paper. The lettering is a rub-on from a card magazine:
I'm not usually a flowery type person but I know a lot of you are!I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
qwiksave - brilliant cards ! Love them. Wish I had the confidence to have a go at something like that. I tend to 'play safe'................lol
Do you know about paints ? I'm painting an old tray my dad made and want to do flowers on it. Got my stencil book out and picked out some flowers but on my practise run on paper they looked awful............I'm better off drawing the outline of the stencil then 'colouring in' if you know what I mean. But I've only got one colour matchpot of blue and green (oh, plus some white emulsion). Can I use my watercolours on top of emulsion for a bit of highlighting/shading ? I don't want it all to go wrong.Mary

Hi Mary, I'm no expert on paints! :rotfl: but I don't think you could put watercolours on top of emulsion - what I think might work would be for you to lighten the matchpot colours with the white emulsion - in another container. You could then make up various different shades for highlighting & shading. HTH.I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0

Thanks qwiksave. I didn't want to do anything to muck it all up but emulsion is water based so I wondered...........don''t want to buy any more paint.
Still, the design (if you can call it that) is fairly basic/primitive, not meant to look realistic so a bit of highlighting with the white paint and mixing it should do it.Mary

lovely cards everyone, well done for weaving the tissue paper chickadee, I tried that and after half an hour lost the will to live and gave up. Mary, your cards are lovely. Next week decoupage, my least favourite technique, but will come up with something, I think I have some flowery ones somewhere... sorry qwiksave (since you are not a flowery card person
) I am not into teddy bears doing stuff and dressed up as santa and such. Teddy bears on their own on a baby card is nice, teddy bears or animals dressed up and acting as humans, I do not like. But to each their own, that is why I love this thread, so many different cards and ideas, Briliant!
Missing you Polly, some people will do anything to get out of making a tissue card!!Get better soon....

Wow Quicksave, your cards are brilliant. They look really artistic. When I am doing mine, I feel like I am just assembling parts, but yours look like there is real talent behind them. Thanks for sharing!
Mary, I felt mine may look like I had copied yours because of the flowers on a tissue background, but they look really different. I love the one with the cut-away front, I might try that technique.

Oh, thanks. chickadee, appreciate your kind comments. I have to say I have to be VERY selective with the friends I can send these abstract cards to!
Grannies, Grandads & Elderly Aunts just don't seem to appreciate them!
I have to send the conventional type to them... flowers, bah! :rotfl:
