    Hello Suggs,
Please don't berate mot - it was my post and I did write 'facts' in parentheses reflecting my cynicism. Further, I called it MediGoogle, to which I'll now add MediBurble, about which modern self-diagnosing trends a GP writes with delicious corruscating wit in The Times of a Saturday.

mot played no part in my writing. I listened with healthy scepticism and people-watched many stuffing down their expensively bought snacks, as they nodded away with squirrel-bulging cheeks(upper storeyl:rolleyes:)

Also, please note I reported what was said - not that it is so.
    My disbelief was the catalyst!
One was in parentheses, the other was not - done nowsalute.gif.

Worry not ampersand...here things like this happen all the time...posts are generally read rather quickly (we do talk a great deal upon here) and responses are usually swift (and occasionally retracted.....or in the case of ajax and delly and the WW points system agreed to disagree whilst remaining stoic in their belief that THEY are right....I think it was ajax and delly arguing about that many moons ago )

I'm fairly sure I can say that Suggs wasn't having a go at MOT or You but at the advice handed out. Because things get read quickly we sometimes miss the cynicism of the poster and a lot of information will be gained at face value so if somethings off we all shove our two pennorth in!

We aim for balance upon the forum and hopefully most peeps are like me and only take offense if something is written in big arsed letters and directed specifically at em....(hasn't happened yet :D)
    Hope that helps

Amp, as I said in my post I was not having a pop at Mum. I made sure I wrote that down, as it was the information that was incorrect not Mum!!

Why are we getting so het up about it? I do understand the use of parentheses. I was mearly offering the counter arguement with facts I gained from a couple of websites. I also asked to understand how and why those figures were arrived at!

Once again I wrote that I was not having a pop at Mum but at the information

I'm not a 'het-up' type Suggs, but accuracy is all and I wrote the post.

    welcome kunster.
wendyw, I know EXACTLY how yo feel. Everyone in my office keeps saying 'ooooh aren;t you good' as i dutifully munch my sw planned noodles and other lunches all week. Then at weekend I just think, 'oh s*d it' and eat for england. I'm starting to slowly think before i eat and asking myself if I REALLY want what I've got in my hand. Other management techniques are to promise myself it later in the week, but not now. I usually find that I don't want it so much by the time i'm allowed it. If only there was a magic wand i'd wave it for both of us. Is it perhaps the pressure of belonging to a sc that makes you go crazy in the days before? SW mostly works for me because of my greed and that i can still pig out but on restricted things - ie baked beans and potatoes on green and meat on red. Not sure if thats any help at all, but you aren't alone - far from it!

Thanks for all the positive messages about my daughter. I great faith in the NHS, it just seems so SSSLLLOOOWWWW to react and that was what I thought we'd been able to avoid. Oh well.

Suggs, full of cold, feeling rotten (still not manflu!), at home trying to work from home, but cant be bothered...:)

Sorry to hear that you still have another cold, crumbs  it can't be long since you last had one. I swear by hot lemon with fresh ginger and honey, I have it quite regularly and I've haven't had a cold (yet) this winter or last :j. I hope it clears by the time you fly to HK, otherwise it will be quite uncomfortable for you ( and your fellow flyers ;) )...I hope you have a lovely time lucky you!:D

I havent been on here basically since I asked to join you a few days ago, thing is I'm ashamed of myself havethoughley pigged out the last couple of days felt so bad didn't go to Sw made an excuse it was guenuine but I could have wangled it.why do i do this I have 5 good days then 2 days b4 s,club I go to pieces, i cant take another weight gain I know i'm 4stone Ilb down but this time last year it was 6st 2lb and its slowly creepng up WHY, I felt so brilliant last summer, and I know avoiding getting weighed nots the aswer ,will definately go next week and face the music .whats wrong with me I feel I have a self destruct button sorry to be such a misery anyone out there in the same boat ?

Wendy, big hugs. A lot of people can relate to what you're saying and have the self-destruct button that you talk of. The great thing is you are asking 'why?' - now instead of focusing on the food, look at the rest of your life and see if you can find the answers there. Food is almost always the symptom and not the cause of the problem, so look beyond that and see if anything leaps out at you. This may take time so don't be disheartened if you don't find the answer immediately. Another thing to ponder is that often extra weight is a 'protection' from something - it may seem strange as being overweight can attract a lot of negative attention from others (and ourselves) but it can also 'conceal' us from the world in some way. Above all, be kind to yourself while you try to figure out what's really going on for you.

Go KPC, great techniques! :T I find I tend to eat more the day before a weigh-in too, even though I just do it at home; self-sabotage is so frustrating! Sometimes to counter this, I just decide on the Tuesday morning that I'll take that weight for the week and then I don't pig out - I guess it's kinda like sneaking up and springing a WI on myself to avoid that trap. Ridiculous the things we have to do sometimes, but as long as it helps :D

I'm glad the facts were met with scepticism by all, they were truly ridiculous (the facts and in no way the posters).

Pet, how great that you have looked back over your WIs and seen that you have in fact fluctuated very little - it's so wonderful to be able to shatter a myth you've been carrying around about yourself and see how things really are. Well done you! :T

Granny, I hope your DD gets seen as soon as possible and is taken great care of x Thankyou so much for the chart as ever.

Vix, nice one on the 2:1!

Welcome to Kunster, great to have you on board!

Suggsy, hope you feel better soon x

Well done to Kymrob for SOTW - my money's on you for SOTM too ;)

Efireze, great to hear the gym was such a positive experience, and what you achieved is no small feat at all so well done!

suggs hope you feel better soon;)

wendy I had the self destruct button, often and for a long time and it is like bails says it is not about the food it is about something else, find the root and find the answer, oh it is not that easy:rolleyes: I know I have struggled but now I don't let it control me and know it is mainly because of boredom I eat or because I felt left out as everyone around me eats and eats and never gains an ounce I have the control now and it is so much easier:D
