I'm not sure I could have lived with myself if I hadn't have done anything. Hearing about his demise in the paper the next day would have been awful so in a way, I thought about myself first before him... . Popped round to see him at lunchtime but he was still in hospital so must have been bad....
Had a good day otherwise. Had my CCCS interview which has focused my mind somewhat. I'm not going to have to do a DMP but I'll have to write to all my creditors and negotiate token payments with them. She's sending a sample letter for me to send.
Basically, I need to sort the business out. My outgoings are close to my incomings. Selfishly speaking, I like the self-employed lifestyle as it gives me the opportunity to be more than a good father to my children. I will get my head down and start working out where I can get some more income entering the business, I have some ideas already...
Also got the lean-to emptied this morning and did a trip to the tip ( refuse amenity site, !!!!!!?). It's a tip!! I now have the tumble drier inside the house and an empty lean-to ready for the catalogues that will land on me when the next campaign starts in two weeks time.:j

Still chugging along tonight but will be going to bed soon. Morning and evening post runs plus a booked job to London tomorrow ( one way, Maz ).
Just been out Gumtree-ing again. For those unaware of this phenomenon, Gumtree is a website a lot like Trade-It where folk can advertise their stuff for nowt. I've bought lots from it before including some absolute bargains. The twins sleep in a set of bunk beds I picked up for nothing from t'other side of Bristol. They were pine beds complete with mattresses and better still, they could be split down to go side by side. I'd put aside £75-£100 for their bunk beds in my mind but came away with a quality set-up for nothing! :j
I'll make a list here one day soon of what I've got. Tonight I picked up an Ikea Malm 4 drawer bedroom chest in birch and an Ikea Lack side table for £20.00. The chest is £55 in the latest Ikea book while the table retails at £8. Considering I once went bankrupt, I can be quite thrifty when I want to be. The drawer chest was needed as my clothes are lying on a bookcase at the moment, now they can be put away. I've emailed someone re a free 26" telly which would be nice in the bedroom too.0 -
I've almost excelled myself today. I've done a packed lunch for my trip to London and it's almost healthy.:j :j A low-fat cheese sandwich on wholemeal bread, an apple and a small packet of Hula Hoops. Last week when I went up there, I spent £2.99 on a Meal Deal from the petrol station.
Last night, I should have mentioned I spent £48.00 on petrol filling the car right up. I'm finding it better to fill my car up and pay on my debit card as I don't tend to buy anything else. I'm opening up a second account with Halifax to use as a business account. Pretty much all of my business outgoings are petrol so I'm going to use this second account for business stuff only, no Meal Deals....:D0 -
So no more Meal deals!I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Todays spend? £20.00 on petrol for tomorrow, £8.00 on the congestion charge, £9.90 on shopping and that was pretty much it....:D0 -

Am i that predictable that you knew i would ask the question, lol!!!!
Sounds like you are doing good, and well done on taking the packed lunch with you.I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Thanks Maz.
When I got there, he booked an immediate delivery to Reading, which was only £25, but better than a poke in the eye.
Been down to proof-read the football programme this morning so had a cereal AND toast breakfast beforehand so that I wouldn't be tempted passing all the garages on the way down. Managed it :j and just had lunch about twenty minutes ago.
I've decided that next season, I'm going to give this up. I go down two days before every match, collect the programme from the printers and take it to the football club to check for mistakes. I then come back home. The whole round trip is 100 miles and costs about £12-£14 in fuel. Multiply this by 23 games and it comes to around £300. It's a voluntary position so no payment although I do get a coffee and meet some of the players.
I'll say that I'm giving up and see what they say. My season ticket costs £325 a season and if they offered me a freebie one to continue doing it, I'd probably say yes. Thing is though if you volunteer to do something, IMO it's a bit of a cheek to grumble about not being paid.:cool:0 -
Can they not send you a Word or PDF copy for proof reading prior to printing? surely there's no need to go all the way down there? Rather than stop altogether...
You can go down once a month for the run, and keep your visability up?
Knowing how much you enjoy the perks! it's not something to give up lightly.
Altho season ticket sounds a reasonable price!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
