£12 Young Persons Railcard (50% off)

 I'm so furious - I had a railcard last year, bought just before my 24th Birthday in February. So this year, I went online to renew. A couple of weeks later, my old one had expired and my new one hadn't arrived, so I started paying full fare. I logged onto the website to report it missing, and was told that it was never processed in the first place - I need to re-order.
So I went back online and paid for a renewal (the full £24 before this offer came up), and waited.
Just logged in again to report it missing, only to be told that it's been more than 30 days since I ordered, therefore I can't get a replacement - I have to buy a new one. And this promotion has just ended!
Well, there's no way I'm giving them another £24 of my money for nothing

Just to let you know I had problems uploading a photograph and suddenly realised today that I need the card for my daughter for next w/end but when I went on the site it wouldn't allow me to continue to upload the photo as the offer has ended.
I phoned the help line and got a very nice guy called Johnny who asked me to email a photograph and he will upload it to the card and get it on its way today for me.
Great bargain and even better service :T:T0 -
If anyone, like me above, hasn't completed their photo upload you should receive an automated reply regarding the problem they had with the website....
Recently you took advantage of our half price Young Persons Railcard offer and purchased a Railcard online for £12. In order to print your Railcard we need you to log back on to the Railcard site.
Goto http://www.youngpersons-railcard.co.uk, log on and upload a passport-style photo. You may have already tried to do this but experienced difficulty - sorry for this, we had a problem that has now been fixed - so you should now be able to complete your upload.
Once your photo has been successfully uploaded your Railcard will be printed and sent by First Class post to you. It should be with you within three working days - Remember! Easter bank holidays will delay your Railcard delivery. Happy travelling and thank you for taking advantage of this offer.
If you continue to experience difficulties please contact help@railcards-online.co.uk If you fail to upload a passport-style photo within 28 days we will automatically refund your £12 and void this transaction. After this, to purchase a Young Persons Railcard you will need to complete another online application but you will not qualify for the 50% discount, you will be charged the normal price of £24. Alternatively, you may purchase a Young Persons Railcard for the normal price of £24 at your nearest train station ticket office.

Tried to get half price railcard using promotion code on 13 Mar but had real probs downloading photo, even official passport photo rejected. Email to help desk and reply received on 18 March, 2 days after promotion expiry, with more instructions on downloading. However, can't now get past initial info screen as promotion no longer valid and can't delete it!
However, the £12 has already been taken from my account - on 13 March - so I'm now out of pocket as well!
Have sent another email today - told all out of office until 25 March! Watch this space.....0 -
Phone them on Tuesday and you'll be put through to someone from the technical department who will help as per my previous posts but you should also have had the email I posted about post 75 as you haven't uploaded your photo as yet.0

Thanks for info. Despite several phone calls to technical dept. where assured all now sorted with website -(it isn't!) -and other helpful advice from Railcard, I've (today) had it confirmed that after 30 days I get a refund! Am then going to send my son along to the station with his passport photo and £24! Life's too short....0

I've just come across this thread and realized it would suit my 18 year old daughter who has just started uni. and uses the train frequently, as the thread is quite old could someone give me the benefits and pro's and con's in a nutshell, so to speak? Also do you use the same promo. codes as in the first post?
Thanks in anticipation.0
