that's interesting, does that mean whoever signs and stamps your form falsified the declaration? are there universities/colleges who don't bother to read it? on my form, the declaration that the university/college official signs and stamps states that the mature student has to be "attending University/College for over 15 hours per week, at least 20 weeks a year". clearly one day per year is not sufficient for this criterion?
by the way, i'm not having a dig, i'm just curious. its great news for moneysavers if colleges really are that slack, even if it is a bit dodgy...0 -

We've spoken to National Railcard and as mature students can't apply online sadly they're not able to make use of this offer. National Railcard are looking into making mature students' applications available online in the future though.
I've updated the top post.

Andrea, how about contacting National Railcard on behalf of us all again, and asking them if they'd consider issuing some sort of (paper) voucher to allow mature student moneysavers to get the railcard for this price when buying face-to-face? it's a scandal that we are eligible for the card but not for the offer. i can fully understand that it's harder to deal with mature student applications online as the proof has to be physically checked, but that's surely their logistical problem to overcome, and they shouldn't discriminate amongst the customer base for that reason.
anyone agree?0 -
My step-daughter doesn't have a passport and she doesn't drive so has no driving licence and has to use the train to get around so cannot take up this offer. Great!!!0

Agree to that. I actually think it is already a huge hassle that mature students need to get an extra section signed and stamped by the school before they can apply for a card. And now we are not even allowed to get this deal also.0 -
Can foreign students (i.e. my French aupair) apply for one of these over the internet (she only has a French passport / driving license)?0

Just wanted to say thanks for this, I was about to pay £24 at the station but luckily I checked my emails first!! Only took a few minutes, free delivery too! I save £100's last year so looking forward to more cheap (ish) travel!:j0

Hello!
I am currently 15. Would this benefit me when I am 16 years old traveling through all the London Zones 1-6 before 9.30 on Saturdays and some weekdays?
Thanks0 -
It's not just mature students that are left out; I don't drive (hence railcard!) and I don't have a passport, AND you can't renew in advance online. Why is it that your previous railcard is enough proof to renew at a station but not online? Why can't you just enter your railcard number online to renew?
I reckon the number of 16-25 year olds with a driving licence or passport would be in the minority. There are probably only a handful of people in the country eligible for the £12 offer! I feel a tad cheated...0 -

You can use a railcard anytime at weekends. You can get 1/3 off a travel card with a YP at some manned stations.
You can't use a railcard during the week before 9.30.
Not living in London I dont know exact details but can't you apply for a 16-17 oyster card type thing? I'm sure they did reduced travel for them anyway. Or if you are at a college are they not included in the student oyster type thing?0
