It's been diabolical of late in terms of connectivity and server problems. I'd go elsewhere but OH wants to keep his internet address. A complaint to member services this morning yielded an offer of next month's access free of charge. Nice try I said, try 3 months and I might consider staying. So next 3 months will be bill-free, but what is causing all the problems? Anyone know?

Did you know, you can cancel with AOL, but still keep your email address? :)

  • Apparently, the "Server Migration" Theory rings true.
I lost my AOL Internet Access for 6 hours yesterday, my diagnosis (I'm an IT Systems Administrator) revealed that I was now connected to new DNS servers with totally different IP numbers from what I usually see in my Broadband Router. Basically I was moved across - migrated if you will - to new servers - Car Phone Warehouse? Don't know. I do know that a work colleague of mine had the exact same experience and he lives OUTSIDE London.

I was told CPW had bought them hence migration to new server.

I have dial-up and rang them today. Their tech department talked me through deleting my old dial-up settings and installing new ones. It seems ok now.

Any tips on how to get a refund of a month or two's charge ? I initially spoke to CS who passed me through to tech department - neither was receptive to any refund. I've been having these problems for about a month, but in the last week they've been much worse.

    Xmas Saver!
basically AOL has been brought by Carphone warehouse, so it could be that there changing on to their network, if theres a prob ring up and complain, Ive just had a months free broadband, - had to change my home phone no (abusive calls) rang AOL 1st - tied in with phone package, no probs they said will be ok, did that, then they decided i wouldnt have bb for 21 days as it was showing as a change of address, couldnt get it through to them it was only a telephone number, so i asked for a partial refund, they offered me free month, so yes plz.

If you have to change supplier, you just go into www.aol.co.uk, and it brings you on to home page and log in as normal from there.

OMG, really? Well this changes my plans considerably then! I'll take my next 3 months free and then switch. Brilliant!
