Morning all
Staying at home today to slow down the spending as weekends we seem to spend on rubbish, lunch out, products we don't need extre. When to ASDA last night, no reduced but, managed to keep to my shopping list and only spent £15, which given there was wine, fruite & veg and a yummy chocolate dessert (to take to friends this evening as they are doing the main meal) i didn't think i'd done too badly.
The thread is going really fast this month but, theres so many great recipes and tips it makes all that extre reading worth while.

Hi everybody.
Been down to town to get veggies which came to £6.39 from Mr. T and £2.49 for potatoes from M & S. I don't like tesco's spuds at this time of year as there is a lot of black bits in their Maris Piper and other main crop types. It's probably poor storage facilities by their supplier which is why they are mostly on special offer. M & S have their Maris Pipers on offer too, 2.5 kg for the price of 2kg, but I find these are better quality.
Thanks for the recent recipes, that spicy bean soup sounds very tasty, may try that next week but will have to get some ingredients. No good for DS3 as the only beans he likes are baked beans or runner beans. DW and I love all beans cos we are "Has Beens".
Naerly lunchtime so had better go as can hear DW rattling her chains and getting out her big stick

HI all,
Bit rubbish at keeping in touch and have no idea how to do the funky signatures but here is the cash report.
Total budget for this month is £250
Total spend so far:£213 (exactly....weird eh?)
I know it looks like I might struggle (hahahaha) but seriously only need fruit and veggies, freezer jam packed and cupbaords are bursting.
Slightly off-topic, but considering slow cooking a boneless leg of pork I picked up at the market for sunday lunch. Any ideas? Was thinking about a 1/2 pt of veggie stock, onions, celery garlic and rosemary? Also it has loverly cracking which I thought I would take off and roast with the potatoes. Not used my new slow cooker much, but think it would not crisp up much? Any suggestions gratefully received!

Think I may blow my budget this month because DD wanted to help clean the kitchen. She picked up the pan supports from the hob (4 at once, cast iron too) and dropped 2 on the floor. They promptly broke. So I now only have 2 pan supports and need to replace the others. Heaven only knows how much it's going to cost to replace them but I've told her it's coming out of her money.
I got so cross I yelled at her- poor thing. She's only 6. Trouble is everything she does is gung ho with no thought and she just ends up wrecking things. We've made up now so just have to get it replaced.

Hi fallen angel shelley
I have made them and warmed them through before -they can dry out, so I would "undercook" them a little so they finish off when re-heated... Or you could always roll them, sprinkle on a little flour and stack them with clingfilm between and then just throw them in the frying pan when you get there-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
First post of the month for me too. I'm (loosely) planning menu's and shopping for the full month this time, so am trying not to panic that with less than a third of the way through the month I've already spend over half my budget  .
Have got plenty of meat and fish in though bought twice the amount of pork I needed (forgot I'd ordered some on the Mr T delivery and also bought some from Lidl), so for the rest of the month I should only need to buy fresh veg/bread/milk etc.....which means I should be ok.
Got a shoulder of lamb reduced from £7.30 to £2.99 so am just off to the slow cooker thread for ideas.0 -
I'm still not mastering this not buying stuff lark!
I started the month with pretty full cupboards and freezer and really only needing to buy F & V weekly. I did my monthly food plan with what was in the freezer etc and still there will be stuff in there! My problem is I can't bear to run out of stuff and I have been good and am trying not to hoard, but some of the stuff I use is on special...
. I'm going to use cash for the rest of my budget and keep it in a different purse, I may just use it for F & V then!
The darn hospital is messing me about again, my op was cancelled Monday and my consultant rang me yesterday to say about going in Monday and said he'd call back and confirm - and I've heard nothing! Of course trying to find anything out from a hospital at the weekend is a nightmare ..... do I eat everything in my fridge .... or not  (rant over!)
Cheers for all the ideas, might make some more bread tomorrow and take out my frustration on that (and add it to the other loaves I already have in the freezer :rotfl: )0 -
Hello All, hope everyone is enjoying their weekend :hello:
Went to Morrisons yesterday and spent £40.99 which was on budget for the week. I bought a nice joint of beef for Sun lunch and remembered when I got home that we are eating out for dad's birthday :wall:. Anyway, that's been placed in the freezer for next weekend. Philadelphia was half price at Mr M's and 10 Mullerlight yogs for £2 (normally 48p each).
I spoilt it yesterday though by forgetting sesame seeds from Mr M's and popping to Asda. Instead of just spending 28p I spent £19.50 instead. Most of it was woopsied meat so I'm not too ashamed of myself
I've spent nearly half my budget so far but thanks to asda I have a stuffed freezer. With a bit of meal planning I hope to achieve this month, fingers crossed.0
