Just checkin in
So far Ive spent a total of £42.31 in sainsburys and that has restocked all the things I ate when I had the money crisis last month and bought a few extra bits and bobs, so fingers crossed apart from milk and fruit I should have plenty of food in to last me the month.
Got to pop to town today as I need shampoo and toilet rolls but other than that planning on working out some meal plans with the food I have in and maybe doing some baking,June Grocery Challenge 270.80/250July Grocery Challenge 0/3000 -
Hi all,
Waves all round and hugs to any who want or need them. Including one for myself!
Despite being in a down place today, I'm going to try to prep some more things for the freezer from the store cupboards. 3 loaves wholemeal bread, 6 portions of corned beef hash. Houmous for sandwiches and 6 portions of Dahl, is my target make and bake for the weekend.
Chickenpie- Maybe you can still do it, it depends what you've got in freezer and cupboards?! We might still limp over the finish line together, c'mon, I'll hold your hand! Maybe you could post what you've got in, and let all the creative folks on here suggest 3 weeks worth of meals with it and your remaining £20. I believe in the OS magic.
Bye for now,
Weezl x

Good Morning Everyone
I had to go shopping yesterday, the workmen 'needed feeding' bacon sandwiches etc... (I am getting the work done for free son can't complain).
So I spent £10 in Lidl but did get 2 gro bags while I was there.
£3 for the milkman yesterday too bringing my total spent so far this month to £69.76 which I'm pleased about :j I'm on target as long as I stick to my plan and my son gets over fussyeateritis  nothing with onions or dried fruit, he's just trying it on as he's eaten these for years all 9 of them!
I'm hoping for a NSD today, foodwise anyway I have to go and buy some green paint, as I had no response to my Freecycle ad this week and the workmen have finished the loft which means I can get my son moved into his new 'loft room' as soon as it's decorated, freeing up his bedroom for me and my crafty ways :rotfl: :rotfl:
Have a great day allI won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

MrsM, does it matter which kind of oil I use to make the tortillas? These are on the menu this week and OH is now very scared! :rotfl:
Also, I only have semi skimmed - is this ok? Sorry for the daft questions. Can't have OH laughing at me if it all goes wrong....Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
Morning everyone
Another £30.74 added to my sig after a big shop yesterday. Still need to spend around £5.50 today for coffee, loo rolls, washing up bits, cat food etc.
Got lots of bits for the next 2 weeks and lots of reduced things too from Morrisons.
6lts LLmilk reduced to £1.99 (will 1/2 and 1/2 for next weeks milk)
400g organic cheese re'd £1.29 (luckily also had 50p coupon for yeo valley too)
Morrisons had their pork joints down to 1/2 price per kg so I got a massive piece for £3.01, cut off a chunk for roasting and the rest will go towards my HM sausages I'm making in a mo.
Must get cracking and get these made and also make some chocolate eclairs that I've been promising the kids for goodness knows how many days.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Hi Everyone,
My first posting this on this months challenge. Out of €250.00 I have €122.28 left but I am now pretty well stocked up.This includes €46.00 spent on pet food which will last them the month.
The rain is lashing here and the wind howling around the house so it really is a perfect baking day:rotfl: .I plan on making banana bread (bananas reduced down in Mr T's), twinks hobnobs, maybe some MrsMc tortillas. Aldi have leeks as part of their super 6 here this month for 99cent so have bought 2 pkts to make lots of leek and potatoe soup - yumm- one of my favs and I will freeze down in portions to have as my lunch during the month.
I have started walking at lunchtime at work to lose weight (another 1lb gone this week:j ) but I have also found I am not spending any money and the diesel is lasting longer as I'm not driving at lunchtime. A definate win-win-win situation.
We have a canteen at work opened limited hours and when I go for mid-morning break I was spending €1.30 each day on coffee and grapefruit but I have found Mr T does tins of grapefruit in juice for 89cent. This now does me for 3 days so I am only spending 50 cent on coffee each morning.
Small differences but they are all adding up.
I will post later as I really need to start cooking and check the freezer and work out what we are eating this week:rolleyes:
Take care everyone

The diesel engine was originally designed to run on groundnut oil but it became too expensive to run. That's when they switched to derv. Common problems from switching to diesel are leaky fuel pump seals due to higher pressure needed to force oil through. This costs about £150 for a reconditioned pump. The pump would be needed anyway sooner or later as you are losing fuel. Other problems are blocked filters. This happens as the cleaner oil clears all the nasties out of the engine that have built up over time from the diesel.
Newer cars don't work as well on veg oil I think it's something to do with the cetane in the fuel that's why I recommended checking it out on google first.
I couldn't believe it when someone told me to run it on oil but it does work, much to my delight!
The money I save on fuel will pay for the car in the long run.
Back to food, I found out what DH wanted for tea last night- Chilli!
Heaven only knows what he did to it but I had one mouthful of it and nearly exploded and the kids had 2 mouthfuls. I think he may have slipped when he was adding the chilli powder because it tasted all gritty. It might have been fine though- I wasn't feeling well last night and went to bed at 8.30.
I asked him to just scrape the plates into a tupperware tub and stick them in the fridge because they weren't touched. I'll try and water it down a bit later with some soya mince (eurgh!) and tinned tomatoes.
Should be a NSD as I'm losing DH to the pub at 1pm so he can't drag us out to town! (I hate town at the weekend, why would anyone want to go there?), happy frugal times peeps!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Hi Kaz, my OH did this once, and I got a large pot of plain yoghurt (not low fat, as the creaminess is part of the heat reduction) and stirred it through the whole batch, made a really nice goulash-style thing which went to make even more meals cos of the addition!

Hi Mookybargirl......
Not daft questions at all
I use olive oil -but i think most other oils should be okay , and my milk is semi or skimmed to, so it won't matter
Warn OH that if they do go wrong (which they won't;) ) -if he laughs then he will be cooking his own meals in future -that should stop him-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Thanks MrsM. He's actually loves my cooking and it's rare I make anything that's inedible, but I like to make sure I know what I'm doing before I get started. They're on the menu for Monday :jLove MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0
