Just a quick update before another weekly shop tomorrow. I've been really good this week having only bought bananas, grapefruit and chocolate today for the kids. So only £4.10 :j . Made some spicy bean soup yesterday and it was better than the tinned soup we normally have.

Tonight is traditionally takeaway night but I have my pork out and thawed already, so that will save £25. I have stuck to my diet ALL WEEK which has helped the budget greatly. I'll weigh myself tomorrow to find out if it's been worth not eating chocolate :p .

    Evening everyone
I had a NSD today but DH bought us a bottle of wine to celebrate the end of a particularly busy week which we've already opened!

Kaz 2904 - Just out of interest whereabouts are you in the South West? We are in East Devon right on the coast.
Purplevamp - I've been looking at your signature since we joined MSE and was wondering (if you don't mind me asking) why you are aiming for such a huge deposit on a house?

Today I got a lovely book all about Muffins from the book man who comes to work. It was £4 but is full of lovely recipes and as I haven't bought any shop cakes for months I think I will be making full use of it. DS hates normal breakfasts but has been eating Twinks Hobnobs lately! There's a few fruity muffins I might make for him. I know hobnobs and muffins are'nt particularly healthy but it's better that he eats something with a glass of fruit juice than going to school on an empty stomach. He really can't face any food shortly after getting up and is almost sick, but on weekends will happily cook himself a full English mid morning!

I've made a short list of things to buy tomorrow including the usual fruit and veg, milk and some muffin ingredients. Don't need many meal ingredients as there's plenty in the freezer.

    Have a good weekend.

  • The venison sausages went in the bin_pale_

A nice taste and all, but after getting three mouthfuls of something hard (i assume bone:eek: ) in the first sausage, i couldn't take anymore. DD had the same problem and threw hers away too.
Just had a 'nice' dinner of HM chips and tomatoes.

I feel a nasty letter to the company that makes them coming on:rolleyes:

I've a good recipe for thai parsnip soup which can basically be summarised as parsnip soup with the addition of whatever you'd use in Thai curry - since this encompasses chilli, ginger and lemongrass its not v. frugal - but you could just stir a spoonful of thai curry paste into the soup and add a bit of soy sauce and coriander if you've got some growing on the windowsill.

    Evening everyone :hello:

Went to Mr T's after work , spent 60.98. Cupboards, fridge and freezer are full to over flowing. Stocked up on mince, stewing beef and chicken pieces, all portioned up and now in the freezer.

Bought a butternut squash to make soup for lunch at work, will only need milk, fruit and veg now until the end of the month.

Bread maker will be in action tomorrow and I have a recipe for Cherry and Banana Tea Loaf I want to make, picture looks lovely, will post when made to say how it tastes.

Nearly a NSD. I only spent 35p on some bicarb of soda:j

I'm off to do quick stock take and then I'll plan next weeks menu. I know I have half a cauli and broccoli that need using so I might try a cauli/broccoli cheese, only I know most of kids won't eat it:rolleyes:. Still I can portion it up and take it to work for my lunch if no-one else wants it. Also planning to make some soups.

I'm going to have a baking day tomorrow. Gonna have a go at Twinks hob nobs, plus will do some chocolate brownies, rock buns and maybe fairy cakes too! And will make a rice pud too but will probably eat all of that myself! (tip- I use UHT milk for rice pud, I can''t use it for tea or cereal as it tastes horrid but it's fine for rice pud and other milky puds and loads cheaper too:D)
