Had to go out to get something for my sore throat and ended up spending £13.72 in the co-op:eek: not as quite as bad as it sounds because I got some more cat food while it's still on offer (felix pouches, 2 boxes for £5). Also as my Mum's arriving this evening and has insisted on treating us tomorrow, thought I'd better do something nice tonight, and saw some orange stickered steaks:T Also got some wine, haven't bought any for ages!!!! Feel in need of a bit of cheering up at the mo, I'm sure it will help!

Just a quickie to let you all know that my so-called "bagless" delivery from Tesco turned up in 11 bags!

The only things that weren't in bags were my son's case of lager, (He passed his driving test and had to send his licence away, so he's drinking at home for the next three weeks.) the big boxes of washing powder, the 12 pack of toilet tissue, the 4 pack of kitchen roll, the 3kg bag of pasta, etc.

All the cans, jars, veg, fruit, milk, juice, dried beans, rice, meat, margarine, bread etc came in plastic bags.

And when Hubby answered the door the trays were all stacked up neatly on the doorstep - so he and the kids carried it all inside whilst the delivery drivers watched and smoked a fag.

I was still in the bath singing my heart out to old girl groups from the 60's and I completely missed it! :o (I'm now word perfect on He's a Rebel though!)

The delivery window was 8-10pm and they came right on the dot of 8 o'clock so Hubby left me soaking and got it all in for me very un-miliitantly.

(He's a bit of a quiet life merchant my hubby - it's just unfortuinate for him that he's married to me and I believe in saying my piece! :D:o )

    Love Jacks xxx :D

  • KAZ did you have the car converted to run on vegetable oil, or was it like that when you bought it? I was just wondering if it would be worth doing it to my old J reg, and is it expensive to do?
    Thanks

    H all
Just got back from MrM`s and i`m incredibly happy with this weeks spend, £31.61 altogether.
I went round with my list and my calculator but kept pressing the buttons by accident so i ended up adding it up on the back of the list a few things at once until the end of the shop.
I found i`d done better than expected so i went around again and bought some of the offers to use in later weeks, i just hope i can fit them all in the freezer :D There were lots of people in there with massively stocked trolleys all full of rubbish so i felt quite pleased that we were eating so much better for so little, i also spotted one lady with a list and calculator and couldn`t help but wonder if she was a member on here.
Spent another £14.99 on a big sack of dogfood i can`t believe how much we`re getting through but making sure it comes out of the grocery budget is saving us loads. I also got 6 tins each of dog and cat food from the supermarket so if i hadn`t bought the extras it would have cost more to feed the animals than us this week lol.
I`ll be in the kitchen later looking through the recipes and i plan on making some more of twinks hobnobs as they don`t seem to last long around here, night in front of the telly planned once all the chores have been done with a bottle of vino and the hobnobs.

    Hi there everybody.

Thanks to all those who inquired after my poor;y tum-tum. Glad to say that i am now back to my usual obnoxious self :D, and ready to take on the world again. Don't know what it was but perhaps The nice Mr. JS Bitter might know :o.

Re. meat balls falling apart - I've not done these but regularly make Pig Burgers, Cow Burgers or Ba-Ba Burgers using a similar set of ingredients. I include a slice of fresh bread, minus crusts, soaked briefly in milk and then squeeze out as much of the milk as possible. This is then added to all the ingredients which are then briefly blitzed in a food processor. when the burgers are shaped (I get about 7 out of 500g of meat) they are put in the fridge until cooking time. Never had any fall apart.

Didn't get down to town today for veggies but must go tomorrow or Sunday lunch will be looking a bit sad.

Ta-Ta for now, must go as we are interviewing a new cleaning lady soon (the second hand ones are sooo cheap don't you think :)).

    Love the FM

    Hi everyone

Thanks for your comments and making me feel welcome. :j

JayneC I have started to think about everything I put in my trolley, I do struggle a little, I have a 9 yr old who we struggle to get to eat anything, therefore the things he will eat I tend to buy regardless. I have just found out he genuinely has allergies so am tending stick to his routine.
I do not have a local greengrocers and do not tend to be in town every week, I often shop T online, I miss all the local shops. Approx 10 yrs ago, we used to have a van that came around selling fruit n veg, it was great and cheap. I tried to get OH to set one up, not sure  if its feasible.

FINDINGMYFEET We do all take packed lunches to school/work. Yesterday I made fairy cakes with the kids,:T for the first time in about 3 years, must make this a habit. I am searching through cookery books for things the kids will eat.

PATENTGIRL I do use a card when shopping, the Tesco credit card which gives you more points, I then pay off as soon as bill arrives. We do not really have much cash in the house, wages both in bank. If I have cash around it tends to get spent too easily.
