Good afternoon everybody, you are all so domesticated and organised

Well, that won't be me then! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm not sure anybody really is: defintely not me! I always feel that way when speaking to other mums at the school gate. They are so so so much more together then I am. I just do my best. But bless you, what a lovely thing to say! :hello:

patentgirl: mini cheese scones sound rather yummy, but may be a little beyond me! Sounds rather frighteningly like making pastry (def not my strong point)!

Well, the kids prefer it with normal rice (basmati), and I have to say, I do too. It's delicious, though I say so myself, but I do use the stock I make up from the roast, so this makes the rice very tasty. The problem is, I have a packet of risotto rice I now cannot use. Grrrr.

Never tried it but it looks the same sort of consistency as pudding rice. Could you try a rice pudding with it?

  • Afternoon, everyone!
MrsM, thanks for posting the meatball recipe.
MikeD, hope your feeling better soon.
    TheBees, hope the tootache's gone.

Had to go out for milk yesterday and a miracle occurred I managed to only buy the milk and a newspaper :T. Made some banana bread in bm and was horrified to discover no plain flour, used SR and it worked just fine.;)

Today, went to Lidl's, guestimated aprox £15 and was gob-smacked to be charged £9.63:j. Included the usual F&V, yoghurts, cold meat, flour, tortellini and bin liners. I confess I bought chocolate:o. In Asda I spent £5.79 on Beef Olives (Sunday dinner), Potatoes, fresh Basil and Salsa. The salsa's been rebranded "Vine-ripened tomato salsa" and has jumped in price by about 20p in the last couple of weeks:eek:. Needed for tonights Quesidillas. That's me in for the day as it's raining side-ways here. Hope your all having a good day!
    Snowball

ps NYKmedia and Icandream, I'm not domesticated either I just rearrange the dust.

Now there's an idea. Do you think it would work? I suppose, I can't make risotto with it, and so I'd only be risking the milk and sugar. You've got me thinking... may give this a go tonight. I do love hm rice pud. Thanks.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Sorry for laughing but this sounds more like me! If my DS isn't home at mealtimes I tend to cover his up and stick it in the oven or microwave and then forget to tell him it's there!. He now knows to check for himself on way past when he finishes work late. Maybe I'll hide it somewhere and just leave a note saying - 'if you find me you can eat me' on his plate. Guess that reminds me that it's lunchtime now. :D

savingfortravel - Here's the link for the risotto - it was gorgeous.

    This is the page it was on which has loads of other recipes that I couldn't find from the Index so had to search for it. Might be useful for anyone looking for inspiration;

I finished my 6 nights yesterday so I was hanging as I had both kids home too. That meant I had to doze on sofa instead of going to bed.
DH came home for his lunch and I said he'd have to go to Iceland and get a pizza for tea as there was no way I was going to be able to rustle up food and he was off to buy paint.
Anyhoo, he went to Asda and spent £14.72. I really must not ask him to go shopping- EVER!
My leftover total is starting to look quite poor but he's bought mince because he wants something (can't remember what!). I'll bulk it out with a bit of soya mince which should make it do 3 or 4 meals.
Think we need milk, apples are starting to turn a bit so I may use his mince for meatballs and chuck apple in them. I have carrots and want to pop to Aldi later to get the fruit that they have on offer.
I'm also on the lookout for cheap vegetable oil (not sunflower) as my car runs on it. The cheapest I have found is 56p per litre so if anyone knows of cheaper please let me know!
Anyway, got the hungover feeling I always get after nights so off for more coffee and a surf arround. I can do the ironing while DH's at the pub tomorrow!

Not quite sure how it has all gone so badly wrong? Will have to just make sure I dont go over budget by too much. Everyone seems to be doing so well on here, Well Done :j
