Shelley - I tend to pop breadcrumbs in the freezer. They defrost quickly.0 -
I've been very bad. I popped into M&S last night on the way home from Rosemary Conley and spent £8.87. Naughty naughty!!! I havent been in M&S for months.0

Grocery delivery is on Saturday between 11 and 1 and I've just been told by my doctor that she can fit me in at noon on Saturday. She'll be away for weeks after that so I've to take the appointment. Luckily, OH has Saturday off and will be able to take delivery. Still - I did so want to be home since it's the first time I've ordered online & I'm afraid they'll ruin my carefully thought out order by sending expensive substitutes.
Had a delivery from Mr T yesterday and it came to £95 , but we were running out of a lot of stuff. Still freezer, fridge and cupboards are full so hopefully will not have to spend too much next fortnight. I can't get my head round this cooking and freezing lark. Guess I'll have to give it a go though, it's not something that we've ever done.
I was going to go to town today to get veggies, but I've had a bad night with a tummy upset. Don't know what caused it as everybody else is OK. So I'll pop in to town tomorrow although I will have to go to the local convenience store up the road for one or two carrots and a swede for tonights stew.
Good luck everybody

Afternoon all
Hope you are feeling better soon MikeD
Popped out for a walk this morning... and picked up:-
a block of organic feta €1.15 :Tthe cheapest standard stuff was €1.20
2 organic avocados..€1.99.. again, the normal were the same price
some boiled beetroot....oh and 10 free range eggs €1.89
I got them thinking of a lovely salad or 2 mmmm... only now im thinking part of the feta may have to go into making a lovely flan with some kassler ham, peppers and onions  and another part of the feta may have to get bashed up with some toasted pinenuts, broccoli and get turned into ravioli
Well dinner last night was stunningthe meatballs with caramalised onions n peppers and hm tzatziki stuffed into tortillas.... hubby shocked me by declaring that it was SO nice that it was better than his beloved gyros teller  you have no idea just how much my hubby has always loved the gyros takeaway:rolleyes: ..we don't have them very often..but it works out at €15 for both of us (i can never eat more than half either).. last nights meal came in at under €2 in total..so that is going to be some saving :j and a lot healthier:T
The other half of the meatballs are in the fridge so im going to make some egg pasta in a moment and use the 1/2 carton of passata with a dollop of cream chesse to make it creamy and some vegies..and we can have meatballs on pasta for dinner tonight , and i think i will pinch a bit of the dough for the loaf out of the bowl and make hubby some garlic doughballs to go with his
Right i had better get off and update my signature
Keep up the good work everyone-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

If you ordered from ASDA I believe that if they make a substitute that is dearer than the original they charge at the same price as the original, if the substitute is cheaper you get it at the cheaper price. Waitrose (Ocado) do the same. Tesco however will charge the normal price for substitutes regardless of the price difference. Don't know about Sainsbury's though.
Oh thank you for that info mikeD! I feel a lot better now. I've asked hubby to check the items against the bill so hopefully things should be fine. Hubby thinks it's very funny that I've got him doing the same things at home as he gets the young chefs to do at work (he's a senior chef at a hotel). I also get him to chop my veg and chicken :A - something he hasn't had to do at work in years!
Hope you feel better soon MikeD!Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)
