It is usually a massive rip off, I avoid it like the plague, but recently they have had some super offers;) ;)

Hi, I too have received vouchers in the post. Mine are from Tesco and are for money off (2x£6 4x£4) weekly £40 shops. Ahhhhh! Previously £40 would be no problem.... It is almost like they are testing my willpower... They probably HAVE noticed I'm not spending as much.
Will probably use one or two on long term non-perishable items, saving £10 on £80 and use money saved to buy treats.... in my case salmon (which I would chose over chocolate).
In the past I have also just missed out at the till on double points, money off etc... I'm now one of those people with calculator in hand/extra item just in case/watching the current total like a hawk. Wish you had grabbed the magazine... Feel for you.....
    Wish me luck SFT

Do you make a list when you go shopping? I find this helps quite a bit, also if you do a meal plan for the week/month and just buy the things you're planning to cook.

    HTH

I, always, make a list. I choose 3 recipes from the OS recipe section and I choose 4 meals from a list of grocery plans people have been sending in for cheap meals in the forums. Therefor I have enough meals for 7 days, but we do eat out one day a week because my son has a learning disability and we travel one day a week. We can't get back in time so we eat out one day a week, but the meal is kept in the freezer. I make a list of everything needed in those recipes. Plus I add the usual basics.

Well, I went to Sainsburys armed with my double points for a £10 spend or more voucher ......... and I only spent £8.94  ! I was sure I'd bought over £10 worth ! I got all flustered and as there were people in the queue behind me, I didn't manage to grab anything else to make it up to £10. Got out of the shop and then realised I could have bought a Sainsbury's magazine at the till and it probably had vouchers in too:rolleyes: ! Oh well, live and learn as my mum says.

I think I need more lessons  !

Use a calculator. If you feel uncomfortable doing that, use your mobile phone. ;)

    NSD for me too!!

Update on the poorly tooth - it's much better today after I got the nasty stuff out of my gum last night! Yuk. It's been causing me problems on and off for years so i might have to pluck up the courage to have the thing taken out soon.

I too am interested to know how you water down the milk without everyone noticing? If I buy 4 pints of full fat how much water do I add? Does it then become semi skimmed?

Just had a look at my menu list and I now have enough meals to last until the 19th. I need some inspiration so am going to have a look at the menu lists that other people have posted on here for ideas.

    Thanks everyone

    Hi everyone :D

R.E the milk... we now buy cartons of full fat..as its 73c a litre...skimmed and semi are 67c...i have a 1 litre pop bottle and do half and half in there -so we get it for 37.5c a litre :T ..hubby now does it too..in fact sometimes i have done it..hubby has come in and done it too :rotfl: so we end up with skimmed (but i don't mind that)...i just can't drink full fat..
I have found that if you dilute it at night and leave it over night its much better than using it straight away...

if you have family member who might object (but only if they Know you are doing it.. i would start off with say 2/3 milk to 1/3 water and as they get used to is slowly start to increase the water..and stop if anyone comments on the taste ;)

well the meatballs went down a storm again..and i still have half in the fridge :T next time i make them im going to add grated carrots to stretch it even further :p ..and as predicted..hubby finished the tzatziki with the bread sticks for supper :D
    planning a NSD tomorrow :j

SFT - I think you're right - they're testing our resolve by tempting us with more vouchers ! Funny you should say about the Salmon over chocolate, i'd prefer Salmon any day too ! Hope you manage to use your vouchers to your advantage.

Skintscotslass - will take that piece of advice and use it so thank you very much :D (I never thought of using my mobile:rolleyes: ). Am thinking it takes a lot of practice all this money saving ;) .
