  • Hi guys

I am declaring under budget at £95.83 spent out of £100. YAY!!

have aready put the other £4.17 into my sealed pot so the next 7 days have to be NSD's. i get paid on 28th but wont take the money out until 1st April. have got 4 days at work where my meals are supplied and visiting friends at the weekend so shouldnt be too much of a problem... she says.

MRSMC - am setting a budget of £100 again for april please

although i'm probably setting myself up to fail as i have an empty freezer as it needs defrosting and my OH is back so will be two of us eating. but i'll see how it goes.

    Thanks

what gets me always is that I run out of nice things to nibble. I live remote and there's no handy corner shop within miles, I can do the asda weekly ( soon internet ) shop and have just started to plan meals, but halfway through the week I would mug the village kids (if I could find any) for some choc or sweeties. I tried stocking up at asda but just et everything in 2 days. (And at my age I should know better ! ) So any suggestions for sweet things gratefully received :)
  • also hun, have bought a slow cooker, which is great if you are busy, also a yog maker from lakeland for £20. not sure how much it "saves" but certainly have not chucked away loads of yog cartons recently, as everything i make home made is sacred lol and must be eaten haha. kids are tough to crack with treats, but they dont get much in the way of cakes etc. when the apple crumble does arrive on sunday it is devoured lol! good luck, you will save money if you only do half of what some on here do every day. they are legends

Hello, hope everyone had a lovely Easter. Just got back this afternoon and now I know what 'WHOOPS' is all about too! :T Whilst away, I ventured into a 24 hour Asda store and going those little yellow 'whoops' stickers! Spent a grand total of £10.80 (many whoopsies) and am still within budget this month with only milk needed to last me the month. Total spent so far this month £92.53

Hope everyone is doing OK and managing to work out their budgets. It does get easier as the 'stores' build up. I think I have enough rice and pasta in store to last a month if needs must! :rotfl: At 19p per pack for pasta shapes, I certainly have enough in stock to feed my army!

My month runs as a calendar month, but I'd like to keep my target the same. I won't be starting until 1st April, but here are my details for next month in red :)

    NYKMedia - April target £100 for 3

  • my cheese sauce recipe that goes with everything even porridge (not really)

    1 oz any flour
    1 oz butter
    nutmeg or mustard
oh yes, half pint of room temp milk
melt butter add flour. continue to cook gently til sandy coloured. dont rush to add the milk, you want it beginning to go a bit darker. whisk in room temp milk, dont know why but straight from the fridge deosnt seem to work as well. i buy uht stuff for the yog maker and it is stored in the cupboard at room temp anyway. whisk for what seems like your whole life until it thickens. it will honest, it will just take a while. then add in either the nutmeg or if you prefer the mustard. lovely over everything.
