  • Hi Downsizing for Sanity
Popped into Tesco today and went to see the Fishmonger. He told me the Half Price salmon finished today and that he only had 2 sides of salmon left. We only bought one (don't like being too greedy) and my friend skinned it and cut it into 9 fillets (price for each 63p).

So you are my best friend ... I love salmon more than chocolate.. and I love chocolate.... SFT
    :T

You're very welcome! Enjoy......We have salmon at least once a week so should stretch a bit if I try hard (unless I go away for a few days, DH will have had salmon every night!)

    Hi everyone
Well GC looking just poss if I am really strict with myself. Went to MrM's to collect a prescription for me, paracetamol and nurofen for the kids, this all came to over £15  - don't include this in my GC budget but shopped while I was in there! Really annoyed at myself now because I didn't need anything . Anyway spent £8.50 and got a french stick, kettle crisps!, apples, bananas, a lemon, cucumber, new tupperware box, I think that was it. So that leaves £21.50 till the 1st April - very doable considering the freezer is full, but I will still need to buy a few food things, 2 birthday cakes and a chinese take-away for DD's birthday. Had HM soup tonight - was very yummy. Was making a double batch but unfortunately had to throw one half away - after managing to get small shrapnels of plastic from a tupperware box in to it (a long story). Feel could have been stricter with myself but still much better that I used to be, but hey it's onwards and upwards. Continued thanks for the inspiration, tips, recipes etc :T
Anyway off now to bed so night night
    :hello:there's me, OH, DS 10, DD 7,
and our deranged border collie - sadly put to sleep Aug 23rd 09  now have our GSD x collie oct 10

A NSD for me and quite productive. My shoulder is still playing me up (4 days now  ) so I was trying to watch telly but Hubby a youngest son were playing a board game very loudly, so I decided to make some more of Twinks hobnobs. Then I made some more of Mrs Mc's tortillas, which the kids had for dinner and the rest are made up for packed lunches tomorrow. We're slowly running out of food so I made a meatloaf and caramlised onion gravy for hubby, mine and eldest sons dinner... may not make it again as it didn't really hold itself together enough. I tasted ok though and no-one complained  .

Changing the subject... I always use Head n Shoulders shampoo, but as it's about £3.50 a bottle am thinking of using a stores own brand. Does anyone know if they do the same job?

... For tea we are having Bread and Pullit :D.

Must go now as the Pullit is going off.

    Love the FM

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick but can someone please tell me what Pullit is? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm imagining a little hen (pullet) running away from the bread.

Hi - the bread has come out fine. Panic over.
But we have loads. Can I freeze it? How - do I wrap it in a plastic bag/foil/greaseproof paper?
I must sound really stupid, but I've never frozen bread before - always figured it would go soggy. But it seems a shame not to save it.
    Thanks.

icandream - I slice my bread and then freeze it in plastic bags. It shouldn't go soggy if you defrost a few slices removed from the bag at a time. If it does go soggy... that's the stuff you tell everyone is meant to be like that because it's to be used for toast or bread & butter pudding ;)

I settled for chicken curry for tea tonight, and have ended on yet another NSD! :T That's 9 in a row... my record!

    evening everyone
had a very productive weekend in the kitchen which also had the added bonus of keeping me out of the shops
    have made

    carrot cake
    choc brownies
    white choc and raspberry muffins
    millonaires shortbread
mrsms tortillas - double lot - 1 lot frozen
    fruit loaf
    12 bread rolls
    loaf
    chocolate lava cakes

HAve also checked freezer and cupboards and do not intend to go anywhere near a supermarket until April begins on the 26th. I have everything i need and more beside and milk in the freezer so we will be ok. Looks like i will be about £30 over this month but im not used to buying so much flour etc and it was that i ran out of. You kind of get to know how much stuff you need per month dont you but how much bread flour i will need im still trying to work out.
