  • hi there and welcome to damncat, you are sure to enjoy this place, lots of useful ideas.

well done to Mrs m and nykmedia, how you have gone so many days without spending is beyond me, give me a few months and i'm sure i will manage 4 or 5 at some stage.

Just been on the internet banking and realised it was the last payment for my car today, HOORAY. I'm dead chuffed. four years of payments ended. the car is four years old so will last lots longer yet (with any luck). So thats another £130 a month in my pocket.....no not pocket or purse.... got to keep it in the bank not had it so wont miss it. savings account here it comes. Savings????? not used to having those. If i keep this up i will be permanently smiling.

  • Quick post from me, hope everyone is ok

Not doing well this month at all, have no idea of what i've spent unless i can dig some receipts out, everything seems to be getting on top of me lately and i'm feeling snowed under with stuff :(

Just having a 'can't be bothered' day, hoping to get back on track asap though as i feel so out of control with everything and that just makes me feel even more down.

Apologies for the depressing, whinging post :o

    Take care all

Wahh I have gone over budget (again) this month by £50 (21 Feb-21 March). Although in my defence a lot of the things I had to buy today were for my stay in hospital (having baby no. 2 :j )and they were for next month so I could re-jig it all and sort out what can come out of next months budget instead and i would therefore be bang on target this month but I cant be bothered

I need to do some batch cooking soon as my DH will be on his own for 3 days and 2 nights whilst I am in and bless him he cant cook anything except beans on toast. He will also need to feed our DD so must make sure there is plenty he can give her too.

Thank you to everyone for sharing their recipes these have been a huge help and made a big difference in our spending.

    Hi everyone

Well we`re not doing too badly in the sunny household, my month ends on good Friday and there`s £1.50p left until then, i`m hoping we will manage cos i`m off out soon to the shops but i shouldn`t be buying anything to do with food. only a new ball for the hounds and DH needs a razor which he has given me the money for and i think i`ll have a look and see how expensive a loaf tin is.

We`ve been eating very well on the last 3 GC`s - too well in fact as i`ve just got weighed for the first time in ages and found that i`m 7lb heavier:eek:
must be all the baking i`m doing - going to have to do something about that soon:o

i`v been busy cutting and pasting all the yummy recipes that you lovely peeps keep posting, they are all higgledy piggledy in a word doc so hopefully i`ll get them all sorted out so that i can find what i need easily.
The freezer is groaning and i`m having trouble closing the door as it`s sooo full:j i think that next week i`m going to try eating from the cupboards and freezer and just buying fresh stuff so i`ll see how we go- if i allow say £20 for fresh veg, fruit and hound food i think we should survive, that is unless i find loo rolls on offer somewhere as we are coming to an end of our last stockpile.
    Good luck everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Hi everybody

Welcome damcat you'll love it here. BTW the £ sign is above the No. 3.

Only had to get milk today, but also had to do my online shop at Mr T. I all came to just over £90 which was for an very average shop. Obviously prices are increasing well above the current rate of inflation, as a month or so ago my average shop came to somewhere between £70 - £80. Are we being taken for a ride by the big supermarkets, or what? Anyway had some discount vouchers, but was hoping to save them to use in the summer.

Now then. "Bread and Pullit". This, in the old days, when the poor people (like me:rolleyes:) looked in the cupboard and only found a few bits of bread to feed the starving children (aaaaaw) with. So Mummy stretched the bread to go round. Hence bread and pullit. This is of course totally tongue-in-cheek stuff.

    Love the FM

findingmyfeet well done, think I would set up a standing order for whatever amount it was to a savings account every month, that way it's still coming out every month as you are used to but then it's being saved instead :D

Just about to update my total, 3 weeks gone, 2 weeks to go....wonder if I can do it :D spend so far £117.35 less than half....looking good so far.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

Had a very productive day yesterday - made scones and a quiche case and a victoria sponge - all in the freezer for the Easter weekend and vistors.

I have started to do the diluting the milk trick and OH hasn't made any comment so I don't think he's noticed yet! Also tried using just half a dishwasher tablet and that seemes to work ok too! Thanks to whoever suggested that.

We had Italian-style chicken (roasted with rosemary) and sauteed potatoes (also with rosemary) and courgettes and carrots for tea. I had a little bit of pastry left over from making the quiche case, so I rolled it out, chopped up half a braeburn apple and sprinkled it with cinnamon sugar, I made it into a pasty shaped thing brushed it with egg and sprinkled with more cinnamon sugar then baked it for about 20 minutes. OH and I had this warm with custard for desert - yum! And there was enough custard to fill two small ramekin dishes which are in the fridge for tea tonight in stead of the usual yogourt.

In addition to the above I managed to nearly finish the filing and filling the new cabinets in my study - and OH reconnected the computer so I have no excuse for not keeping on top of the bills etc now!

Hope you all have a good week. I am off work from Wednesday for a week, and am looking forward to more baking and money saving! Only have to do one more shop this month as my month ends on 28th, so keeping my fingers crossed.

Kate, sorry to hear you're going through a bad patch but it will pass. Be kind to yourself, give yourself a few little treats (give yourself a manicure or a facial, have a nice lazy bubble bath, or make a favourite dish). You've been doing so well, you'll be back on form very soon I'm sure ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
