    HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY

    Hope everyone is well.

Had to go to Morrisons today, and spent the grant total of £40.91, so have updated my sig accordingly.

Im doing not too bad this month, I even increased my monthly amount by £50 thinking I would need it because the meat stocks were running low, and usually I buy my butcher meat in bulk, but, I dont think I will need the extra.
I was so tempted to go to the butcher and buy some meat because I feel really nervous when my freezer isnt full (goes back to my childhood days), but, I resisted and thought, nope just leave it you dont need it. :T .

Lilmisskitkat, dont be too down on yourself, you have been doing really really well, and dont be apologising thats what we're all here for. You will get back on track soon, im sure of it xx

MHE, would you mind sharing the recipe for the chocolate lava cakes please?

Well, im off to make me and the holy terror (aka DS aged 2), some lunch.

Keep up the good work everyone.

    Jackie xx

Hugs to Kate, I'm sure we all have days when we feel like that, Rosieben's advice is great; look after yourself and perhaps just draw a line under it and start from today x
Findingmyfeet, that's fab news; I love forgotten surprises like that! Putting it in a savings account will give you an even bigger buzz I'm sure :D
I'm having problems with my thanks button - very intermittent internet, goes off every minute at mo  - but I just want to say I am very grateful to you all for all the great tips. I can see how this thread is completely addictive!
I'm not quite sure where we are from the weekend but will try and sort out soon. I'm hoping we can eat out of the freezer as much as possible this week so I can make some room for a batch baking session at the weekend. Will need to make a list of what to make as every time someone posts a recipe or idea I think 'ooh yum, I'll make that' :rotfl:Mrs Mc's tortillas should definitely be on the list as we have them a lot here.
Twinks' hobnobs were very successful last night and I've got lots in the freezer to bake another time, thanks for that! There's only one left...:o Note to self: really must concentrate on the healthy recipes, or I'll put on what little weight I've lost :D
Second lot of bread made last night too - makes me wonder why we ever bought bread now! OH is getting in on the BM action too, and he's the big bread eater, so he may well be converted! :T
I think we'll definitely need to buy fresh veg this week but I'm loathe to part with any cash :D All money is very tight til the end of this month (I'm trying to stretch the GC til the very end of the month, started on 25th last month making it a longer one) but will see if I can be creative, and keep OH out of the shops!
Have a great day everyone, especially Kate xx
EDIT: I meant to ask for the chocolate lava recipe too please (hmm, that's a healthy recipe right?;))

  • thanks for that idea lil_me, must not start using the money at all. going in to the bank tomorrow so going to set that up, always been very worried about not having many savings. Also want to avoid another car loan in future, nice to get a new car but not so nice when you are years down the line and still paying for it. !!!

Well spent the morning baking away as i'm not at work today. Made two batches of tortillas , 16 breadrolls , a cheese and onion quiche and a ham quiche. All these going in the freezer for easter weekend. DD desperate to do the millionaires short bread but told her she cant do them until saturday, too expensive to make twice in one week. really nice for a special treat though.
Got the ingredients in to make the bagels but running out of time at the moment, Hubby also nagging me to have a go at hot cross buns.... who doews he think i am Delia Smith??? never done them before, if i get time he might get lucky but not promising.......
off to do the dishes and walk the dog. (just feel like sitting watching tv all afternoon really but list of jobs is endless as i'm sure you mums out there already know!!

Oh poor you! I did this once, then gave the choc-topped shortbread to DH...

    DH: What's this?

Me (slightly irked already at sign of criticism after a culinary disaster): Millionaire's shortbread.

DH: It's got no toffee layer!

Me (past the point of being a reasonable woman): Well you're not a *&%£ ing millionaire!

Hope it doesn't degenerate thus far in your house...

    Love and a consolation hug,

    Weezl x

I know that feeling! I've gone as far as to poke them awake - and then regret it!! enjoy your cuppa.

I don't know what happened to me - put it down to not being well maybe - I just went out and blew over £40, and I didn't really need anything so I can't think how it happened! To be fair I bought some stuff for the freezer (very hungry freezer...), veggie mince and so on.
Need to get into not relying on expensive vegetarian brands (we're all vegetarian) - but lentils don't go down all that well with kids, except for 'magic soup' (lentils and veggies, loads of garlic).
Anyone got any ideas for protein (non meat!) that kids will eat?! (Not asking for much am I....)
