OH and its not just the Asda sultanas and currants that are cheap - if I remember correctly the mixed fruit (inc peel) is 21p and desiccated coconut is 11p - there may have been more types but I didn't buy them.
    HTH someone.

    Hi everyone,
i`ve been reading about the cheese making with interest and am wondering whether or not to have a go - but - having only ever eaten hard cheese i`m wondering what to use it for.

Does it make like a spreading cheese which can be flavoured and then eaten on sandwiches?

 just realised i lied  i`ve eaten quark which i mixed with other things to make sandwich spread:D

any hints and tips would be appreciated ta very much.

Quick trip to T's yesterday set me back£25.86! Took OH with me and he slipped a bottle of wine in, plus lots of decongestants cos my sinuses are all blocked up!
I still look on target for the month- have meals planned til the 31st, but we are off to my SIL during Easter hols so will have to spend money on gift/meal out for her. Actually looking at the calendar, the kids don't break for their holidays til Fri 28th so that's in next month's budget:D !!Well done everyone who is managing to keep to their budgets and hugs to those who've been a little challenged this month!
Gotta go and change my sig. and my keyboard which has gone all american on me - no pound sign:eek: !

Hiya SD, I made 2 types of paneer cheese, and by squeezing out less whey I got a cheese very like quark, but creamier, which I've flavoured for sandwiches.

Afternoon (at least I think it is! Working nights at mo)

Just popped in to say that I've managed 4 NSD in a row :D. Probably helps the fact I'm asleep in the day and not going out. Will have to pick up the basics tomorrow though. Can't decide whether to go before going to bed  This could be a disaster though as I've seen myself wandering aimlessly around Mr T's even with a list trying to find stuff and still end up without everything or stuff I didn't need! May leave it till I get up instead.

    Hi Weezl,
thanks for the reply, i might have a go tonight or if not later in the week.
I`ve a cotton tea towel which i`ll use to hang the cheese up in so fingers crossed :D i`ve a feeling i`ll go horribly wrong but nothing ventured nothing gained and all that.

with a tea towel rather than a muslin, you'll probably have to squeeze as well as drip, cos the gaps in the cloth are much narrower!

    Good luck with it!

Oh man, just had another look at our figures and we are seriously skint! Been back through to see why, so now really need to be a scrooge til 1st! No point going into next month's budget or we'll always be playing catchup again. Right, off to make a plan :D Cheese making sounds interesting, will be off to find the board too...
