Hi Mumzyof2
I think of a NSD as not physically parting with money at shops for anything at all, I don't take into account direct debits etc - that would just be too depressing. Although I don't count 10 or 20p for school things like no uniform days etc, but do count big things like rebooking swimming lessons etc.
Oh look I've managed to put my post above your quote - I've probably been doing this and just noticed!when you all say a NSD is that just no spend on grocries? Or you bought say some cigs but because its not in grocery then you still had a msd as you bought no food. if you get me?:hello:there's me, OH, DS 10, DD 7,

Hiya,
Gutted about the salt, OH tipped the 200g of sugar into roughly the same amount of salt in my storage jar.:mad:Does anyone know of any recipes which use salt and sugar in equal quantities? I'm stumped, but i'll be damned if I waste food!;)
Only thing I can think of is bread - or pizza base - you'd be ages using it all though!0 -
I think the same as you also a nsd to me is a no spend day which with me smoking never happens!
Mumzy, I know you are trying desperately to cut down with the longterm view of stopping, so perhaps you could hold onto an empty 10 pack and buy the amount you need for the entire week, then just transfer the daily amount into the 10 pack each morning? If it doesn't help you reduce your daily amount it would, at least, make it possible to have some no spend daysI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well.
I need some ideas for using up rice and cous cous. Dh is a meat & 2 veg man, and I dont think he would be too impressed with a vege meal.
I want to start making stuff with rice & cous cous, but, it would obviously need to have some meat in it ie chicken. Does anyone have any nice recipes? The only thing I can think of is chicken fried rice with veg, but, I dont have a recipe for that, so, if anyone has a recipe please let me know.
MRS M would you mind sharing your recipe for the turkey meatballs please. I found turkey mince in the freezer, so, that could be good for the kids, and what is tzatziki, Ive never heard of that before.
Well best get back to work. Im so behind this month, Im trying to read through all the pages, and so far, im only at page 29. Got a loooonnnngggg way to go to catch up.

Hi,
I spent 30something in Tesco - will update later - finally defrosted the freezer and spent last night filling it! Made 2 loaves of bread, 2 pizzas, 5 portions parsnip soup, 4 portions pasta sauce, and a tray of cherry cupcakes. Feeling pleased with myself! If someone could just pop round and do the washing up now please.....?
Next I'm planning on making pastry - first attempt - to make homity pies and fruit pies/tarts for the freezer, garlic bread and also houmous - will houmous be ok to freeze in smaller pots?0 -
Actually came on to say that I've made my meatballs and pork and apple burgers with my pork mince. They are in the freezer as we speak. Used the old food processor mum gave me - got a wee electric shock from it when I unplugged it which is a bit of a worry - I think though that I hadn't dried my hands properly, just to be on the safe side will get OH to use it the next time :rotfl:Anyway the mixture was a bit sticky and wet looking - is it suppossed to be like this? if not how can I sort it - roll in flour perhaps prior to cooking?:hello:there's me, OH, DS 10, DD 7,

Hi Jackie
I'm not a particularly good cook but I do make chicken fried rice. I fry some chicken, garlic and onions in some olive oil, add some mushrooms and frozen peas, soya sauce and chinese five spices - to taste, I make a space in the frying pan and add some beaten egg (I use an egg per person), when the egg starts to cook I add boiled rice to it and mix it around, I keep doing this until my egg and rice are used up. Then I add more soya sauce and poss more chinese five spices. I cook the rice while I'm preparing the rest, so it is not getting reheated when I add it to the pan because usually OH is working late and will reheat his when he comes home.
We also eat a lot of kedgeree (not sure of spelling there), kids love it. Boiled rice, smoked haddock, boiled eggs, syboes (spring onions), butter, all chopped up and mixed together - really yummy, You are supposed to mix thru a raw beaten egg but I don't what with the kids eating it. What about curries and sweet and sour dishes?
Going off now as I've still got all my housework to do:(:hello:there's me, OH, DS 10, DD 7,
