Do you have to do 16 hours every week, or can it just be 16 hours on average, so for example, if you only do 10 hours one week, can you do 22 hours the following week and still qualify for the tax credits?

What about doing the trial, and then assuming they offer you the job (which I'm certain they will), tell them you would love to accept it, but you need to work 11 hours a week (is your Argos job 5 hours?). Surely they could guarantee you 11 hours, even if they can't give you a fixed shift pattern?

He said he couldn't guarantee any hours because of the nature of what they do. It's all events and functions, that kind of thing.

Well I get the impression he would've offered anyone a trial.. he didn't ask me anything.. just told me about what they do and then offered me a trial.

  • Just look at is as extra, and then i'm sure other things will turn up- they do say it is easier to get a job if you are already in one. Good luckx

Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

  • Hi I just wanted to say I used to do Ann Summers and you pay about £2.50 per week for your kit once you've started earning, they ask that you do a minimum of a certain number of parties in any six week period but they usually give you cancellations if you ask.
I really enjoyed it and I think you seem confident enough that you could do really well at it. You need to be firm on how many prizes you give out, make sure that you only accept payment on the night and if someone calls to cancel you rebook them.
On the whole you can make a good amount of money, especially if you put in a bit of groundwork before the party itself.....you can find people will rebook for months in advance if they enjoy themselves.....
    Hope this helps

How disorganised is he? He must have to book the acts & people book the events/conferences....how does he know who he will have working on any function if it is all casual? Maybe he just won't committ.....typical bloke :)
