Now that is a totally different IA all of a sudden, glad to hear you sounding more positive.
Jet - I think they were all like that at one time but I think they might be finding it harder to get people interested in this kind of thing these days. I remember looking into it a few years ago too (well not Ann Summers as I am far too shy) but other things and even the ones that expect you to buy kit don't seem to be charging as much as I recall, either that or it just doesn't feel so much now.
Can't believe what a quick reply you got to your request though, that is a good sign.0 -
Hey Sar,
If u can hack the hours I'd really recommend bar work. I did it as a second job from 18 till about four months ago (just turned 26) and I only gave it up because my new full time job didn't fit in with the hours.
If you find a pub where you get on well with all the other staff it doesn't always feel like work- it can be a really good laugh. Also it's really good for building confidence- not only do you HAVE to speak to everyone who walks into the pub at least once you find yourself problem solving constantly lol. I'd also say that nursery experience and being used to small children will be excellent when it comes to coping with customers who may have enjoyed the pub a bit TOO much. If u decide to go ahead with Ann Summers as well you've already got a location for parties- most pubs will be willing to hold an Ann Summers gig because they know they'll get plenty of sales (as hopefully will the rep).
Neg side of bar work is that it is exhausting- on a busy night you will not stop running around (mind you that could fit in with IA's lose the belly thing- I know I lost mine lol). The money isn't fabulous it's nearly always min wage, but doing three shifts a week should keep you within the 16 hours rule and it's not a job where you need to buy 'work clothes' or take/ buy lunch.
Hope this helps- good luck whatever you decide to do

OMG and I'm feeling glad to be in one piece.. was taking Ste to work because I need the car later for my interview, and some dopey b*tch decided that although we were behind her (not really close but not really far either) that she was going to do a 3 point turn in the middle of the bloody road without checking it was clear first. Had to slam the brakes on, skidded for about 50m before finally stopping about 5 foot from the drivers door... The scary thing is that we had the girls with us and she had kids in the car too. Doesn't even bare thinking about if I'd reacted any later as we'd have slammed straight into her drivers door.
I'm feeling a bit  about the whole thing, the girls were none the wiser though. Closest I've ever come to an accident...... the tyres seem fine even though we left big old skid marks (you can insert your own joke for that! lol).... What a great start to the day..
Went to body combat last night... was soooo different to bodytone.. really fast and high energy.. was absolutely KNACKERED when I got in.. lol. I ache in different places to the norm as well.. ooh that's a point best do my IA challenge weigh/measure in before I forget! Back soon..

Glad you're ok, I prescribe a cup of tea & a sit down by your PC for the shock - some people really shouldn't be allowed to drive if they're going to do things like that.
What time's your interview?0 -
Glad you're all OK IA, I agree a cup of tea would be good for the shock :coffee:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Hey Sar, Bar work sounds really promising, so good luck with that.
It is like getting paid to socialise and i think you will love it. And as someone says, the least complicated, and i'm sure the bloke will be pleased to have someone who actually wants to go thru the books!! a lot of people want cash work for bars and that can cause problems obviously.
Ann Summers, is supposed to be good if you can crack it.... but it's not for everyone.
Scary pyjamas re the woman doing the 3 point turn! give women drivers a bad name!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
