Warning - Sainsbury's special offers - check receipts!!

I am so sick of receipts being wrong. I have had so many problems with bogofs and special offers at Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons that I check the the shelf labels really well before even putting them in my trolley.
To avoid problems now, I make sure I keep all my bogofs together on the conveyor belt - that way I can check immediately as they are scanned at the till - and if there is a problem I tell the cashier immediately - as I hate having to waste time at customer service. You can't imagine how helpful the cashiers are when they realise that it it "their supermarket, till or computer at fault" and you tell them you no longer want it. This little technique is all the result of being overcharged £25 once in Asda - unbelievable but true - girl at customer services didn't question it at all - amazing!0 -
I live right beside a Sainsbury's store, but gave up shopping there many years ago due to being overcharged on something on every visit. Only go there when I have no other choice and I still end up getting overcharged or something double charged. Their customer service is terrible, why can't the cashiers hand your card back to you instead of placing it on the conveyor belt for you to pick up yourself. Their petrol station is the nearest one for miles around so have no choice but to go there. The staff are so busy talking to each other, they don't even look at or speak to the customers. I don't know how they get away with it.0

On my last two visits to Sainsburys I have been overcharged as the price label of the shelf was misleading - only showing the lower price but charging the higher one which wasn't shown anywhere on the shelf! . I now lalways check my receipt and when it happened last week - I complained . They didn''t even have a proper complaint form - just a blank sheet of paper - I dont hold out much hope of a reply - the last time I never even got a reply about something else. It's happened before with other stuff
It's Not a prblem with the scan system - it's the lack of properly placed physical labels on the shelves or their removal when somethig has sold out. Hardly rocket science.0 -
Today whilst doing my weekly shopping I thought I'd take advantage of Sainsbury's latest wine offer ie 25% off any 6 bottles of white, red, rose, sparkling or fortified wines including any wines already on offer. Sounds straightforward!
well I selected 6 bottles, paid for my groceries and when I got home I checked the receipt for my discount. There was no discount - apparently the Lambrini Perry I had included is not a wine but a cider! This I find really misleading ( I'm trying to be polite - I find it more than misleading!!) - How many people would consider Lambrini Perry to be a cider rather than a sparkling wine? Caveat Emptor0 -
I don't consider Lambrini to be a wine,but I don't think everyone realises its made from pears.0

Are you joking? Lambrini is a perry as it's made from pears, I don't think it's ever been promoted as a wine by anyone.0 -

why did you conside lambrini to be a sparkiling wine, its a dam perry, is it anywhere near the wines i think not, where is it positioned ? maybe by the ciders by any chance which gives it away as being a non wine product
it maybe not the reply you were expecting but it might help other people who are stuck re lambrini0 -

i have dealt with customers who clearly werent aware of the fact it was made from pears and that it was a perry0 -

Can I add a positive sainsburys story?
A few years ago we visited the store in Hanley, Stoke on Trent, it was hammering down with rain and the main entrance was wet on the tile floor. As DS came through the door he slipped and landed with quite a thud. The customer service desk saw this, and the lady came rushing over before I could pick him up. She took him over to the magazines, told him to pick anyone he liked and then gave him some sweets and a can of pop. Really made his day. I think he was about 7 at the time.
Ive never forgotten that incident and I hold that particular store in high respect after how they handled it.0
