I totally think that anyone upset with Sainsbury's should write to Justin King.
I did. I'm really annoyed with the quality of the new Basics range since they re-launched it with the orange packaging; in particular, the tomatoes are abysmal. Really squishy and no taste. Plus I have found on several ocassions that one or two were going mouldy when I unpacked them at home straight after buying them!
I wrote to Justin (at the Holborn address) and told him how I am loyal customer and love certain products, etc etc. I then said how annoyed I was about the toms and waited for his reply. It wasn't a long letter at all and didn't take me any time at all.
5 days letter I recieved an interim reply from Sainsbury's saying that Justin would reply to me in due course. Then shortly after that I got a letter from him saying how upset he was etc etc - - - and a gift voucher for £15! Not bad Money Saving!!! All for 2 minutes work!
So my advice is - do it!! Be vocal and voice your complaint!
(My next target is River Island! Closing their fitting rooms 45 mins early on a Sunday and then having huge queues at the till whilst some staff are cashing up tills early, presumably so that they can go home quickly. Hmph!)0 -

Would it be better to write a letter or email ?
I have a complaint about Sainsburys lack of customer care.
My 5 yr old son fell in their store (was a pure accident) and injured his head. A member of staff nearby carried on as if he didnt notice my (now screaming) son. After a time another member of staff offered to fetch a first aider but couldnt find 1. When 1 was eventually located my son was offered a "wet wipe" . She filled in an accident book and told me that someone would call us the next day to find out how my son was. Nobody called. She seemed more anxious to find out if he had tripped on anything or if the floor was wet. No doubt to see if Sainsburys were liable.0 -
When I worked in Sainsbury's there were quite a few staff whose shifts didn't end until 15, 30 or 45 minutes after closing time. It IS bad customer service to refuse to allow customers into the shop, and it's not unreasonable for customers to be able to finish their shopping in the circumstances you describe, both IMHO.
It's just poor planning, and unfair staff treatment, if retailers don't schedule any staff to remain after the official closing time or don't pay them for the extra 15 or 30 minutes.0 -
MarkyMarkD wrote:Can't remember the name of the shop or I'd name and shame, but a certain shoe shop in Kingston-upon-Thames wouldn't let me in, ten minutes before closing time - presumably, again, so the damned idle staff could be out of the door bang on the dot of closing time. Have they never heard of customer service?
Had this in at an electrical shop in Kingston too. They locked the doors about 15 minutes early (though the shop still claimed to be "open"). They wouldn't open the door, saying that they were closed. I pointed at the sign with the closing time ... but didn't labour the point.
It's not uncommon though. Tesco security guards at my local stop people entering 10-15 mins before closing time. Same with McDonalds who let my wife in then locked the door on me despite there being 15 minutes to closing time. Charming! Despite letting her in, they didn't particularly want to serve her and made sure she knew what a nuisance she was (only wanted a couple of coffees from the machine). After being served, she pointed out that when she used to work in McDonalds while at Uni, they had to let people in until closing time, then serve them and wait until they finished eating/drinking. Needless to say they weren't impressed.0 -

Ok, got letter back, he on holiday but got £5 voucher and name of store manager if any further probs. Not a bad result for 2nd class stamp!:DA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

great result. Sainsburys are terrible in their store customer service at the moment, but they do seem to redeem themselves after the fact. I got a £10 voucher after they overcharged me £2 for a book. I only noticed when i got home, so e-mailed them and said when i go in for my excess money from the book there will be a £10 gift voucher waiting and there was!!so all in all a better result than just getting it free at tescos.

Local Co-op must be the rip off merchants of the year!!
Once I put 2 items in my basket clearly marked as on BOGOF...only at the checkout they went through individually. I queried this and after someone went to check ,i was correct, then supervisor called .. wait for this.... the offer was to start TOMORROW but they would ..'let ' me have it at BOGOF !! I thought this illegal practise. How many others had been duped.
Another time..... I bought two bottles of wine on a £6 for 2 offer. Didn't check at the time, but at home noticed that both individualy priced ....back to shop and was told it was my fault as the large notice under the three bottles of the brand had in small letters only names of two types of the wine! They were not going to give me the chance of a refund of one to get one of the others...as they were not obliged to!! But they must have seen I was ready for a strongly worded reply, and grudgingly let me change bottles and get a refund. You would have thought it was out of her pocket!
SO misleading..... why have the same brand all together when only some of them were on offer. (if this sounds strange ...think of some thing like Pierre D'or but only white and red on offer and the rose not, but all side buy side with a huge bur 2 for £6 sign underneath !
Grrrrrr ...... must think we are mugs...just how many people dont check their slips??0 -
shop at morrisons myself but they seem as bad as the rest! I always check my receipt before leaving and am almost surpriped when i find no faults!!!
today got some biccies bogof but they didn't go through so when i checked the shelf talker it showed the offer finished on he 07.08.05 over 2 weeks ago - girl on customer services duly refunded me but it's besides the point how many people don't check and basicly get ripped off - they seem quite happy for us to do their work. let us find the mistakes refund the difference with no compensation - so why pay for some one to do a proper job !!!
now i've written it down i feel even more annoyed0 -
Leelops - I can go one better than that - in Somerfield yesterday I bought fair trade tea, on offer reduced from £1.85 to £1.38. I was charged £1.99 for it. It turns out that the offer was due to end on the 2nd August, and the sign was still up three weeks later..... wonder how many people had bought it because of the offer and had overpaid?0
