It certainly is!
It's all about comfort levels innit?

Have another week's shopping to get Mondayish, but we are already £2.43 over the budget (uggg). Hoping to spend £15 max, and then will start September's challenge afresh. Hope everyone else's GBC is going better than mine!0

Decided to start this up again - I've kind of fallen of the wagon again - I'm blaming the school holidays (espeically as thats the only time OH can get off work as well) :rotfl:
I'm going to just stick to a weekly budget though. £40 a week is more than enough which will allow me to put cash away to go to our local health food/organic shop and another shop which sells 10kg bags of flour (Can't wait to see whats inside - but I'm not going there with DD in tow - she'll grab anything and everything!) which I only discovered this weekI'm hoping to slowly change our diet to something alot more fruit/veg based than it is ATM as I want to cut back on the amount of carbs (read toast and pasta!) that we've been eating since the holidays began. IOW I'm starting my pre-christmas diet in the VERY near future :rotfl::rotfl:
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
:j :j :jTesco on-line shop again this week - had problem as grapes were nasty (brown/soft) called their customer services - EXCELLENT (pat on the back 2 Tesco!) Refunded cost of grapes, no quibble, and apologised over the phone and then by e-mail!!! Half the pack of grapes (the red ones) were ok though, so got them free!! (Should this be added to PIN money???)
Minus cost of grapes, with BOGOFs, special deals and £15 off (by voucher posted on MSE) came to £63.69. Spent £2 on bread/milk during week & £1.60 on shampoo at Wilkinsons. Weeks total therefore £67.29!
Brings this months' total to £231.52!!!!!! It is a 5 week month for me but as
we go on holiday next weekend, I won't be food shopping. Am not including holiday spending/food in shopping budget!
Due to this months' success, will set next months' target (4 week month) as £280.00. Who knows if I'll manage it, but I've had fun doing it this month! Can't believe that, by being much more careful and planning meals, such a difference can be made! It has helped not to actually go to Tesco- I'm v. much an impulse buyer!!!!!!!

I'm glad that Grocery spending for August has now finished for us, coming in at £31.28 or 16 per cent over budget. Has made me even more determined for next month.0 -
Still doing well, was about £18 under budget last time I checked, but that will probably all disappear when I buy some supplements for my sugar free diet this week! Looking forward to next months already"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter

Oh it's been grim... I can't even begin to say where I went wrong as it all started around August 3rd...
Still, it's payday for me on Tuesday and I've already set the budget again and re-tightened the belt. I've fallen off the wagon with the 'watching what I eat' thing too so that's kicking off again on Tuesday. On Monday I have friends coming round to the official opening of the new patio so once I've done the cooking (and eating) for that I can look ahead with a clear view of the savings I'm going to make in September.
Well done for all of you that have stuck to it though  and I look forward to hearing your good news for next month!0 -
A favourite saying (among many) of mine:-
Failure is not getting knocked down . .
It's not getting back up!
So well done you for deciding to stick with it

I don't believe it!! I've managed to come under budget by £80!! And that is with having the kids at home. I've only managed to get out to do the shopping twice in the past month. Maybe I should have them home more oftenOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
