Despite success with portion control (yeah!), have fallen off the grocery wagon big style this month (boo!). Can't see us entirely redeeming ourselves, but we're going to give it a good try.
Got adequate boots points to buy non-foodie things for the rest of the month, and have made an executive decision to "cash in" 1 of 2 £8 Tesco clubcard voucher set aside for “deals”, as we’ve accumulated more than our usual this period (by stocking up on specials, which is why we’ve overspent, no doubt!).
Also, had a look at the Cheapest meal thread:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=364086#post364086 last night for inspiration. What, with the odd coupon, a well stocked “pantry” and £30 left in the budget, we should be able to come in reasonably close to the budget of £185)0 -

Unfortunately, I now need to report a slight hiccup in the challenge.....but it's a positive thing really. Yesterday Mr Thrift had his first go at making soup from scratch. It was so tasty, and easy, that he's now decided he wants to make lots of different soups, but of course they need different ingredients that he wants to buy, adding to our groceries spend! But I suppose it is a very cheap way of eating, and what doesn't get eaten from the freezer and cupboards this month saves us on next month.....
Now, let's see about that life.....0 -
Well, spent £8.28 at Lidl (veg etc), topping up bread & milk was £3.60 and first on-line Tesco shop (how fab is that!!!!!) was £47.67 inc. Delivery (5.99.) Lots of BOGOFs and also used a coupon! This week's grand total is £59.55!!! I'm amazed (and so is OH) that have cut bill down so much!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

You know what, my months begin and end on the 15th, so who knows what month I am in, but hey...
This month I have withdrawn my food budget (£80 inc any eating out) and put it in a moneybag inside my purse; we'll see if that helps. Already spent £1.88 on some fruit and veg at the market on my way to work, but I never feel guilty about fruit and veg purchases from there cos their prices are great compared to any of the supermarkets.0 -
Bad weekend for me. I budget £50...and ended up spending £82. However, I did buy a new ironing board, which was desperately needed, and enough bog roll to last the next 6 months.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

:j Im so happy :j
Am up just over £17 on my budget this week, spending just over £43 last week, we used up all our standby stuff, even some horseradish that'd been in there since we moved in 2 yrs ago
Really pleaseddespite having 3 people on Atkins, still under budget, which is £50 down from last month.
Don't think I can realistically bring it lower than £60 per week but thats much better than the £75 - £100 per week we used to spend "There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter
