Well, last month was a bit of a disaster ended up buying more food than usual. I blame this on Graham paying for shopping with credit card instead of giving me the money
This month its back to good old cash. I'm upping my budget to £150 for 2 adults. After watching that programme on supermarkets yesterday I shall be buying more fresh produce and cooking more from scratch and freezing.
January spend = £100

Some success!!
Planned meals (taking account of freezer/cupboard contents) and did weekly shop today. Spent £53! Big improvement on my normal £85-90. Didn't get loads of rubbish (trying to feed kids better anyhow!) but enough to last until next shop. Will probably do this one on-line. Will also look into the slow cooker idea - never used one, but will consider giving it a try if makes my life a little easier
Incidentally, saved more money yesterday. Youngest son needed shoes (I only buy Clarks.) Local independent shop had sale on, got £25.00 pair of Clarks for £11.99!! Bargain!!!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

First shop of the month done today and came in at £34.36. Quite happy with that as I had to buy meat for the week and shampoo etc.
I did spend a tenner in Wilkinsons yesterday but that gave me enough washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets for the next couple of months and cat food and guinea pig food for the week and a few other odds and sods.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

well my first shop was a nightmare - took my other half who picked up the most expensive tomatoe puree and panadol instead of generic paracetamol - after a row in the middle of asda's he refused to put the panadol back so am £2.50 down on my pin money#113 12K in 2020 Challenge #113 £17,103/£12,000 £150000

Well, I was feeling quite good about last month's challenge - I was under budget by £19.39, and saved another £15.24 by using coupons through the month, but then I read some of your posts and realised that my budget is pretty high - £50 pw for 2 adults and one cat. We do both take packed lunches most days, so this is literally all our food and toiletries, cleaning products etc.
I could try to reduce it and work to a lower budget, but I am sure I would just fritter away the extra, but if I do it this way I have a nice sum left at the end of the month to put into our 'holiday savings'.
Guess I will have to reduce the sum with redundancy looming in the next few months.

Okay I'm in for August too(although one week we will be away & 1 week we have an extra hungry boy staying over)
5 Thursdays in the month means it's £250.00 for groceries & bits & bobs bought in supermarket & corner shop. Managed it last month but will be taking the week's grocery money for when we are holiday as holiday spending money so no saving by going away.
Last Thursday(week 1) spent £69.03 so am already over budget but won't need much this week.
Wish me luck!!0 -
