  • Hi

Well my Aug shop finishes 5th Sept (i do mine 4 weekly & includes the petrol money) and so far I still have £205 in the kitty. Have another largish shop to do and fill car with petrol so should leave me with about £110 towards my conservatory fund :j

Car tax is due the end of Sept so another £170 there needed to find, but have already got half together through selling bits and pieces on ebay :D

    I love living like this.

  • Well done pp and moggins.

My grocery challenge ends tom. and I've managed to overspend by £13.46. Went over due to large amounts of my favourite coffee bought in Asd* as it was on BOGOF. I have enough jars to last until christmas! Target was £200. Never mind. I do have lots of store cupboard items going into September challenge.

Wow, that is fantastic Penny Pincher - well done!

We didn't track everything on a weekly basis as we have done in previous months. We kept the receipts and OH caught up with the spreadsheet (took him all day!) yesterday. Thankfully we seem to have embedded OS into our weekly shopping because the weekly average continued to go down. We have had additional expenses this month as we went away for 3 days to celebrate our wedding anniversary - but I booked the hotel on laterooms.com and saved £70 and bought a National Trust membership as our anniversary present (a present that gives us entry to NT properties for a year).

In September we are planning to take the shopping money out as cash (we did that a couple of months ago and it stopped us from being tempted to overspend). The car needs servicing, but as a result of reading Martin's book I already have the money for that as I put a regular amount away in a separate account to cover car costs. That wouldn't have happened last year!
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

Well done Penny Pincher, thats brilliant :) And a pat on the back to everyone who's done the August challenge. Its great as it makes you aware of what you're eating and chucking away :) See you all in Sept, and to all the lurkers, please join us :D

Had a good month too, finished with £28 in the kitty, mainly due to everyone eating healthier and not wasting so much food, though we did chuck out some eggs and courgettes that had gone yucky  Our store cupboards are looking a little empty as we've eaten most of whats in there so may bump up next months' slightly... not decided yet :)
