What do the postage labels look like that you print? I know when I've sold something there is the option of paying by paypal and doing it online. Was it a proper post office sticker or a label that she may have stuck on? If she has stuck the postage on then she may not have taken it to a post office. Does she have proof of posting?

send the packaging back to show you are sincere and they will may be able to see if the packaging has been interfered with or changed in any way. Include ALL contents when you return it (i.e. all bubble wrap, paper documents, etc.)

I have no faith in the PO. When I moved recently I asked the PO to redirect my mail. I was then subject to identity theft and mail interception for about 2 years. I am sure that the PO workers look at the 'redirect mail' list and then help themselves to the mail knowing that I would think that the mail had been sent to my old address. I have even had credit cards sent to my new address and even falsified pay slips (these were redirected correctly!). One of the cards was not even in my name! They each had a £14,000 credit limit and could easily have caused me a great deal of trouble!

You just can't trust some sorting office workers these days, the PO employ loads of temporary labour and some of them only do it for what they can filch!

    good luck

  • Yes, I did say some of them - most PO workers are great - my mother and father were both sub-postmasters! As usual, it is just a few who spoil it for the many.

I don't understand how you can receive an empty envelope and not know it was empty  Didn't it have any shape to it, or weight? You said in a previous post "the envelope is just the right fit for the bottle" so how on earth didn't you realise it was empty? Also I don't see how it could have a RM sticker on it stating postage of £2.54 for an empty envelope, surely if the seller was out to scam you the charge would be less?

Sorry if this sounds harsh but I'm just not getting it.

The OP wasn't expecting this to be from the seller, by the sound of it she opened the door signed for a recorded delivery and when they opened it there was mothing inside - only when they cheked the address printed on the back label did they realise it was supposed to be an ebay purchase.
  • I just lifted a make up item of 90 ml and I could certainly feel the weight in that so I think I would recognise when an envelope was empty and was supposed to contain a 200 ml bottle

ah right, just read the above post.

Ah right! That makes sense. I think I'm still gripped by earthquake excitement and missed that bit. Reading the OP again she doesn't say she knew it was from the seller before opening it, you're right. I just assumed she knew.

  • I'd neg the seller for calling me a liar - after I'd gotten my money back.

I would send the seller another email, saying that 'I am sorry I can understand how this might look but the envelope that I received from you was empty. I have no idea how this happened but I have no intention of paying for an item that I did not receive. I would appreciate a refund as soon as possible and if you wish to make a claim through the royal mail for reimbursement to yourself I am happy to confirm to them that the envelope was empty when I received it. I hope this can be settled swiftly and amicably. Yours xxxx.'
  • As others have asked is the printed price on the payment sticker from a post office, or one the seller has done themselves.

A genuine PO one means it's gone awry in the post.
One printed by the seller means any number of possibilities, including her printing the price sticker and putting in on an empty envelope.
