Seller sends empty envelope- WHAT TO DO NEXT?

Hi I have a big problem here, I ordered a makeup item off ebay for 70 pounds. It took me some time to pay(2 weeks) because I was waiting for pay and I informed the seller of this. I received a brown envelope in the post addressed to me perfectly sealed no tears no damage, it was recorded delivery so it had he royal mail recorded delivery sticker on and a royal mail 1st class sticker on, I signed for it and wanted to know whats inside I opened it, to my surprise it was an empty envelope, I then matched the address off the sender and seller and the seller is refusing to beleive she sent me an empty envelope saying that the item was weighed and postage was paid of 2.54 (as seen on sticker) I am very lost because there was no sign of damage or not even a single tear in the envelope, so obviously I am accusing the seller of tricking me but because I opened the envelope the seller is accusing me of taking the item out and lying  . Argh I needed this item so bad! The seller is a trusted ebay seller with high positive feedback and I really dont know what to do. Having spoken to two people from royal mail this morning (postman and Royal mail recorded delivery van driver) they beleive me and say that the company(seller) has tricked me. I have called up Royal mail and they've said that they will send me a lost claims form, but why do i need a lost claims form, how can something magically fall out of the envelope without damaging the envelope? I find it really bizzarre because the envelope was sealed with a special sticker from the seller with their name and address on and it was not opened or anything  If i do the lost claims procedure, I will get less than half of my money back! And the seller is asking me to send the envelope back to her so she can send it off to royal mail, she also states that she will inform Royal mail of my accusations against her and the postal staff. Argh! Advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I cannot see any charge for £2.30.
If the parcel was full - how much would it have weighed and therefore how much would the postage have been?
This may give you a clue.

it will be upto the seller to claim not yourself as she is the seller
was there a post office printed sticker on the evelope that stated the weight?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
send her a photo of the package, perfectly intact and ask her to confirm that this was not the package sent to you despite having her sticker on it,
start of nice if she still denys it i would say she needed to make sure that the goods arrived to you and they obviously didnt and she needs to rectify it
how did u pay?Yes Your Dukeiness

Sorry my bad- the charge is £2.54. The parcel should have had a 200ml bottle insideThe registered mail chargers are here

The envelope is now opened from the top because I opened to see whats inside, i am worried because i am getting the accusation of taking the item out (which wasnt even inside) and lying, she certainly seems very clever because she is still denying it and wants to report my local post office for saying that i've been tricked :rotfl:0 -
what size was the envelope? would a 200ml bottle even fit?Yes Your Dukeiness

OK
So it should have weighed 250-500 g - so that is about right.
Presumably it was sent with packing etc. to prevent breakage.
Being a bottle, someone could have detected this by shaking it and then removed the bottle in the hope it was expensive perfume. Was there any clue as to its contents on the outside?
So it looks like a case of PO pilfering. Take photos as suggested and ask for a refund or replacement. It is not your fault. If poss. can you get the postman that delivered the parcel to sign a note to say that it was empty when he/she delivered it to you?
In any case, say you are very sorry to the seller, but unless you get a refund or another, you will give -ve feedback. If you paid by PayPal then you can claim back the money using their arbitration system if communication with the seller breaks down.ss0 -
Are you sure it is £2.30? That doesn't seem to tally with any PO prices. Possibly it is franked as these prices are discounted - is the label printed in red? If this is the case the seller could well have weighed the item and the envelope and then printed the price label. It is certainly possible to mistakenly send an empty envelope doing this.0
