i'm trying to get feedback from people who have gor skys free broadband, which is 2mb speed and 2GB usage allowance, is it any good?
if it depends on the distance from the exchange is 648 meters close or far away

simply, yes.
648m close, much higher speeds would be available to you, but for free, who's going to argue?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
It's free if they bill you correctly. My inlaws are tearing their hair out with Sky. Sky told them it would be £43 per month & are now trying to charge them £55. They phone customer services & get no where. Oh & the wireless in the router they sent wouldn't work either. Try explaining that to Skys awful tech support tho. I was on the phone for 2 hours & got no where.
Oh & you can't use any old router, it must be Sky's own as they will not tell you the login details & their routers are locked down to you cannot retrieve the required info. If your router goes tits up your screwed:

Have to say i've got nothing but praise for Sky!
I have Sky TV, Sky Broadband and Sky Talk incl Line Rental (05 March 2008) have found the service excellent with good communication from Sky on progress of my order.
Also, no problems with my bills either, always have been billed correctly.0 -

Me to I have the full SKy World Package with Sky+, the Sky Talk and the MAX Broadband for £10 a month I have nothing but praise and internet is fast and reliable.
Only one problem I too am not being billed correctly!! Im not paying anything
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :T
I signed up for broadband originally then they had to cancel and recreate my account (admin error) sending me the router etc on the old account. I have called up 3 times to correct this and they keep saying that there is nothing on either account for broadband!0 -

The router is a netgear router (about £80 when i signed up from Amazon) the only difference being it is flashed with Sky's firmware. Meaning that you can only use it with sky services. Pretty fair to me considering its free!!! If you have an issue or the router gets "screwed" then just reset the router with a pin (button on back or bottom somewhere) and you DO get ther password with the router. If you have changed this and dont know it then reset the router and enter the default one. If you dont know the default one try this link.....

I had the 'base' broadband (ie free) in my old house for almost a year before I moved. Top marks from me, I had continuous connection (my old broadband - £20 a month - used to cut out regularly) for the entire time I was with them. No problems with the speed either.0

..........and you DO get ther password with the router.
That is not your password, that is the wireless encryption passphrase or key. The username/password required to connect, are hard coded into the router. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
sky provide a wireless router, it is possible to get the username and password, but fairly technical, more info at sky use unofficial forumsUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
